Cal, these are roughed out green, the general shape and the bowl is scooped out about half way, leaving the spoon generally "fat". Then I wrap it in a cloth and let it sit for about a week and I am able to carve more, bring the bowl to final thickness, then I wrap it up again, and in another week it's ready for final shaping. So we are releasing the moisture a little bit at a time, but ya, if I were to carve it to final shape wet, it would crack. Not too mention it's impossible to get the detail you'd want for the final form, if you were to try it in green wood, it's just too fibrous for detail. Cal, Gunny and FlGatorwood 2 1 Quote
