1" Redwood with a touch of gray wood ager, sanded down and a coat of clear ploy. I'm struggling to smooth it down on the application. Not sure if it's from not mixing the ploy enough, or the brush is crap. Will sand and reapply a 2nd coat tomorrow.

Daniel, what temp do you think it was when you applied the finish? Temp of your shop. It almost looks like it was applied in very cold weather.

Love the aged look!

Cold temps and/or old poly could kave cause the problem.

I have seen this before, when the shop dropped off to 40F during a wicked temp change in the night.

I worked on this in the early evening and it was getting colder by the minute. Looking at weather history, it dipped into 40 degrees when I started— could definitely be a cause. I'll sand it down tonight and have a heat gun and a brush working together for the second application.

Make sure you take your finish in to your heated indoors, I'd let it sit inside room temperature for the day before you attempt it again. The temp of the finish has to be at usable levels as well.

Keep us informed sir!
