That's an amazing piece of work. Just beautiful.

Will it get a finish?

Hi Gene! Yes the cape will be very diluted white oil paint through an airbrush.  Then burn the rest and by flap sanding, it will highlight the breast and wings and by using the torch carefully,  I can burn shadows where I need them. The eagle will be on rocks with a banner that says "Freedom".

Its not the carving, lots of people can carve. It is the composition, the flow, the feeling you have as you create. I didn't say carve, I said create.  I am blown away.  A wonderful piece of art.

 Thanks for sharing.

Thsnk you Ron. I was told by the chainsaw king Chad Dancyk and  well known carvers Todd Gladfelter, Luke Sassani.... make the carving right. By that they mean detail can be super tiny but, it isn't what the eye sees but rather did you catch that moment. Yes flow is what I'm after. This was my first flying art. Everything matched and when its brought to life by burning and paint,  it will pop. The burning will hide mistakes and small detail so flow and capture are key!  Glad you liked it!!!

Great looking piece. How did you get 6 foot span in one log or is it one log? You have got to show when finished too. As a suggestion you might try the finished pic with a little studio lighting or outside in shade with nothing but grass as background.

Thank you Gerald!  Yes wings were separate.  Gorilla glue and screws. Hide the screw heads inside and mark em so the saw cuts around them. I put a base to it today with stones and a banner. I eill have a clean pic soon!
