Image Uploading Suggestions
We appreciate your help in keeping our image gallery orderly and easy for others to research.
Please consider these suggestions while uploading your images.
- Name your images before uploading to our gallery, the generic camera file names just look so messy. "Walnut Desk" looks so much better than "DSC19467je69.jpg". You can also name your images after you upload them to our gallery for your convenience.
- After uploading your images, please consider adding a description so your viewers know what they are seeing and the wood used, the tools used, or even your inspiration for building the project.
- Please consider tagging your images so our members and guests will be able to successfully search for your image and related images. Tags can be inserted into the "Tags" field. An example of tags and their names should be related to your project. If your project images are of a Walnut Desk with dovetail joinery, than tag the image with "Walnut", "Desk", "Dovetail" etc.
Thank you for your cooperation. ![]()

A case for a Stanley #45 plane
Having won a second one of these Combination Planes, thought it only fitting to build a case to store it in. 1/2" thick Pine boards were cobbled up into a box and a lid. Some brass hardware was added to the lid. had to print out a set of labels, even had to hand colour one. Stain is by Minwax, called "Gunstock" there are 2 coats of clear gloss poly. Corner joints are 1/4" box/finger joints, hand cut. Stands 7" tall, by 11" long, by 6" wide.

A picture from the internet keeps changing as I build
Why not add my thoughts to an old antique clock picture I found on the net The one on the left was the first one I did. But as I was building it I decided it should look like the second picture.

Anthony Ward Sr
A project I completed for the Veterans Suicide Art Fair at Hines V A Hospital
It is my rendition of a world series trophy remembering the approximately 22 Veterans that commit suicide everyday in the U S.
It is composed of 22 American Flags in graduating size and the Enameled Branch of service pins also I includes a POW/Mia emblem and a slogan my best friend and I came up with "ALL VETERANS MATTER" it also has the phone number of the VA Suicide awareness hotline which is a dedicated call center for Veterans to get help that they need. I will also submit this to the 2016 VA Art Fair at Hines VA Hospital.

Box of Chisels
Had a stash of older chisels, that needed a better home than just a dank & dusty old drawer to rattle around in. Still had a bit of 1/2" Poplar, and a bit of 1/4" Luann plywood....
Through dovetails on the corners, hand cut
Grooves to house the plywood panels, ploughed with the Stanley 45
Top edge of the lid, rounded over with a block plane and a couple chisels
Lid was handsawn off of the box, after the box was glued up
Hardware from Hobby Lobby
Gunstock oil stain
Clear Gloss Poly top coat.
Dividers are pine scraps glued in place.
Lid is padded to prevent any rattles...

Box with fancy corners
Imagine a box, that looks like it is hinged at each corner....and the wood looks like someone had merely folded a plank into the shape of a box. And looks like it could also be unfolded, and laid out flat....
What looks like the barrels of hinges in the mitered corners, is really just a fancy spline...A thin, book-matched lid (1/4") tops things off. And, yes the grain from that single board does go all the way around...matching up at each corner...
Mini "Shaker Pegs" were modified to make small "bun" feet. A stain to bring out the grain of the Ash a little better...and a couple coats of clear gloss poly....Long sides are 3/4" x 4" x 12"...ends are 3/4" x 4" x 6".....cut in order from a single 1x6 Ash plank. There IS a latch....a small magnet in the lid latches onto a steel square mortised into the top edge of the front.

Rehabbed a Stanley No. 71-1/2 router plane. Decided it needed a case to store it in. Had a bit of Ash left over...made a little box.
Dovetailed corners, raised panel lid, down-loaded a label from the inter-webbie...Stain is Gunstock, with a coat of clear gloss varnish....dust seal was milled with the Stanley 45. Brass hardware. About a weekend project.

Charles Schmitz
Shadow box for veterans of WWll sub vets of New Paltz NY. A Wreath as gift from a member of parliament presented to the U.S. submarine veterans of WWll. My father is a member and asked me if I could do this for them and could not be happier to do so. My father started off on the old diesel subs then went to the nuclear subs later and made it to chief missal tech and retired after 20 plus years. He also was sent to Great Britain to help train with nuclear tech.

Desktop Organizer, in Red Oak
Using up leftovers from another project. Plans for this came from Paul Sellers Masterclasses. Has a drawer, and a compartment under the lid. Made with 1/2" thick Red Oak. Finish is just 2 coats of Amber Shellac. Intend to set this one down on the far end of my workbench...to hold small tools and such....
Lots of dovetails going, and even a way to hide a groove. About a 2 week project.
Thanks for looking in!

Desktop Organizer,DainII "Ironfoot"
Seems that in Paul Sellers Master Class W.W. series...he made a Desk Top Organizer....so..I downloaded the plans, and made my version out of Ash....with a few of my own details added in. Dovetailed corners, dovetailed drawer...Roundovers down with a #3 Bench plane. # 78 rebate plane helped out on the lid. Stanley 45 made grooves, where Sellers didn't...
Added steel tacks as feet. Stain is Gunstock. One coat of clear gloss poly. Added a handle for the drawer.

Egg Shelf
Here's a small shelf which started out life as two shelves. Featuring an elliptical edge, a matching backing was added. With the scroll saw cutout filled with thin vertical pieces. It's all heartwood of the longleaf pine, and Titebond glue. The slats were cut off an old joist with a circular saw, then hand planed and scraped flat. Sanding blocks were used in three grits to 220 within some intermediary stages. It was finished with a little too much diluted violin varnish, which I softened with 0000 copper wool.
