3/25/2013 - What did YOU get finished over the weekend?

Featured Replies

Here it is - first full week of Spring (oops, forgot to tell Mother Nature).  I just know that because of the nice spring weather we all got projects finished over the weekend.  Share with us, please.......

As for me - finally got some stuff "finished" this weekend.  Been working on several of them for a couple of weeks but the weather kinda slowed me down.

A custom sign for a KOA WorkCamper

A custom 17" 3/4" Red Oak Army Ranger plaque.

If you don't believe in angels - made from 3/4" Spanish Cedar

Big Cats - or - Brothers From Another Mother - 3/4" Red Oak

Eagle Chief - 11 x 17 - 1/4" Baltic Birch

This one can be hung in either direction.  Remember the story of the Lion and the Mouse?  The mouse pulled a thorn from the lion's paw and then the lion saved the mouse from certain death.  Full story in one cutting.  Could also be used as a mood indicator for the family.

I also got several military things done but you have seen those pictures earlier.

OK, folks, I've shared mine, let's see yours...........................

Fred, great work man! I love all of them and the lion and the mouse is really cool. We finished cutting down our beloved plum tree this weekend, we have had it since we moved into our home 13 years ago, and we have many pictures of it with our kids during the blossom season right about now, and we are heart broken it had to go. Every year we would have the kids lay down on the grass right next to the tree, with all the pink blossoms around them in the grass and we would take pictures, so we have them as babies on the grass up to last year. My kids grew up with it, they played around it, leaned up against it and talked till the sun set, they climbed it, and last year it took on some termite and beetles and before we could do anything about it, they ravished our poor tree. It became standing dead. I do have some nice wood from it, very pretty and dark red in color, I am going to make jewelry boxes for my girls to remember the tree by and for my wife as well, I still need an idea for my son. But we are sad. I know, it's just a tree, but dang it, a ton of memories around that tree. My kids crashed into it many times while I taught them to ride their bicycles. Many things.

Got just about all of the parts made and test fitted for the cradle. Currently making the hanging and locking knobs/parts.

Well, I finally finished the floating island and moved it into the kitchen today.  As promised, here are the pictures with the new owner, my wife.

I didn't get finished, but this is some of the progress I made on the pulpit. I did get all of the molding on the top and bottom of the legs. I got the edging routed and cut for the plywood but didn't get it on before I got called into to work Sunday afternoon.

ning-pulpitupdate-15305-28.jpg?width=721I also got a bead routed on each side of the post. I should get the banding on tonight and the top assembled and then staining tomorrow night.

Ron, Mrs. Dudelston is absolutely radiant, and that pose, straight out of a classic Hollywood movie, they just don't make em like that anymore, and I do mean all of that as a compliment. Please don't take the Hollywood comment in a negative way, there was a time when Hollywood was a good place.

John, thanks for the comments

Regarding  - "I still need an idea for my son." - How about a sign that says "I smile because you're my son, I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it."

Would love to see some pix of the color and grain.

Moody - great looking piece - You have a great big AMEN for it.

Ron - your wife looks very happy with her new cabinet as well she should be.

Lewis - you should be very proud of that cradle - looks like it is going to be an heirloom.

John that would be bad. I guess he would be preaching without it. Let's hope I don't make any mistakes from here on out.

It's a means to an end though.

Cliff - not having phun??????  What's up with that?  Scrolling is supposed to be relaxing.  Yep, sometimes when we start a project we look forward to the start and can't seem to wait for the end.
