Ok Patriot Woodworkers! Today we are officially kicking off our Challenge Coin Display Campaign.

Here is how you can help!

You can build our displays, or you are more then welcome to create your own. Keep in mind, we would like to encourage the use of hard wood. The overall appearance of the display should be clean, professional and finished to a fine smooth finish. To view displays we make please go to Challenge Coin Display Blog. There you will see how easy it is to make a display. If you do venture out on your own design, please pay special attention to the groove placement and angles in our blog, whatever you do you will need to incorporate those dimensions into your coin display.

Your displays should fit into a standard flat rate large shipping box by USPS. With our design we can fill one box up with 8 to 10 displays.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please remember to sign your displays, and write a heartfelt message on the underside of each one for our troop to read. Feel free to mark your displays with your own woodworking logo or company name as well. We also like to write in the species of wood your display was made from in the lower underside corner in small print, our troops really like to know this!

Once you're done with your displays, please ship them to

The Patriot Woodworker

San Jacinto CA 92583

Here at our location we will QC the displays, attach our card to the bottom of each one and then they are shipped off to The Wounded Warriors to be distributed to our troops who are in our nations military hospitals and their attached rehab centers.
The displays from the this campaign will be heading to:

UPDATE: April 14th 2013

Our final destination has changed, once the displays are in our hands, we will QC them and then ship them off to Dwight D. Originally they were going to Walter Reed but they are needed at Ft. Gordon GA.

If you're unable to build any displays, you can help us out in other ways.

You can team up with a builder and donate some lumber to their shop for the purpose of building the displays. If a Patriot Woodworker is unable to afford lumber for the displays they want to build, we will try to pair you up with them here in this discussion. You are responsible for the shipping charges incurred for the lumber you are donating to the builder.

You may also make a donation to The Patriot Woodworker to help defray the cost of shipping our displays to their final destination. And we may also pull from that donation pool funds to cover shipping from a builders home to us depending on the resources of the builder at the time.

In order to donate funds to be used only for our Military Challenge Coin Display Campaign please go to Donate To The Patriot Woodworker and place your donation on our PayPal secure server. Make sure you earmark your donation as "Coin Display" so we know your donation is to be used for this purpose only.

If you know of anyone who wants to help and they are not members of our woodworking community, please have them email us at thepatriotwoodworker@verizon.net and we'll coordinate with them offsite. Make sure they insert "Coin Display" in the subject line.

Please feel free to address any questions or concerns in this discussion.

We are so very grateful for everyone's help in this. It is truly rewarding to see your display in the possession of some very deserving Americans. We are honored to do this, and we ask nothing in return, for they have paid the price to be where they are at now, recovering from wounds sustained in the line of duty protecting our country from evil around the world.

Thank you Patriot Woodworkers!

We are shooting for a deadline for all displays to be in our possession by May 31st!

I'm in!!!  I'm really good at making 8-Point cover coin holders.  I'd like to donate a couple when we're ready.  I recently sold a few for like $80 bucks a piece.  I know a place online that sells them for $120.  I'm sure some Marine or Sailor would love an 8-point cover coin holder.  They can even put an EGA or rank device on it if they wanted.

Let me know what's required John.

EAGLES MAY SOAR BUT WEASELS DON'T GET SUCKED INTO JET ENGINES!

Fred, I don't really have a pattern but I'm sure I can come up with some simple instruction.  Once I make my next batch, I'll let you know how I did it.

I've got a mini F-35 Joint Strike Fighter coin holder right now that I made back in October (sorry, no plans since I made it on the fly, no pun intended).  It's unstained, so I'll finish it off.  Just let me know who to send it to.  I'm delayed in the 8 point covers.  I need a new throat plate for my table saw.  Hopefully it comes in next week.

A REMINDER:  I think it bears commenting that if you build off of John Morris' example, we found that a depth of 5/16" of the coin slots worked better than 1/4".
