November 26, 2013 Thanksgiving Message Happy Thanksgiving! Dear Patriot Woodworker's, friends, and visitors. The gang at The Patriot Woodworker would like to extend our heartfelt greetings and happiness and a very Happy Thanksgiving to all who read this, and beyond. As we roll into our holidays and get consumed with excitement, let us not forget about the reason we celebrate this most important American Holiday of holidays. It all started when a small ship called the Mayflower set sail from Plymouth, England on September 16, 1620. The inhabitants of the ship spent 66 days below the decks, and arrived on November 21st of that same year. They were to remain aboard ship until December 26th, when all 102 passengers stepped off the ship and onto dry land. The following Spring, after a horrible winter, our Pilgrams had a 3 day long feast, later to become Thanksgiving. Fast forward 243 years later, and we have President Abraham Lincoln proclaiming a National Day of Thanks in 1863. This day was to be the last Thursday of November. We have so many reasons to be thankful for what we have created in what we believe to be the greatest country that has graced the face of our earth. Look at what we have accomplished in such a short time! Our America truly is, America the Beautiful. I wish I could remember where I heard this quote, but I have always loved it, and it about sums up how we feel about our beloved land. "I would much rather be poor, homeless and destitute living in America, then living well in any other country". That my friends, is it. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day folks.
