January 14, 201412 yr comment_5890 From someone who owns a Dewalt 735 13 inch planer. I need a picture of the sprockets and chain assembly. This is very easy to do. Standing on the infeed side of the planer look on the left side and you will see a plastic guard that covers the sprockets. There are 3 hex head screws that remove with the supplied T handle wrench that's in the hole in the top of your planer. Remove that cover and take a picture and post it please. Also check and see how tight the chain is across the top of the sprockets. Thanks. Report
January 14, 201412 yr comment_5897 Richard, Just getting ready to leave for work. If no one has posted what you need by the time I return, I'll put them up here. Lew Report
January 14, 201412 yr comment_5895 Rich, this is a stock online photo. Will it get you what you want? Report
January 14, 201412 yr comment_5894 Rich, here's mine. Deflection of the chain is barely 1/2" . It's pretty new, less than 500 LF through it. Don't know if the chain stretches with use. Report
January 14, 201412 yr Author comment_5893 OK, cool guys. Thanks a bunch! I've been having some issues with broken sprockets. I broke a sprocket a couple weeks ago and replaced it with a new one. When I put it back together the chain was tight as a drum across the top and very loose on the bottom. Not knowing what it should be I ran it like that and it broke another sprocket yesterday. Report
January 14, 201412 yr comment_5892 Yeah, that bottom part of the chain is fairly loose. The deflection I measured was at the mid top. The second broken sprocket I understand. What do you think caused it to crater the first time? Report
January 14, 201412 yr Author comment_5891 I'm not sure what's going on at this point. The first sprocket cracked in half and was over 5 years old. The second sprocket sheered off the little tit that fits in the sprocket shaft key way. At this point I'm think I may have put it together wrong because the chain across the top was very tight, no slack at all. Report
