Shadow Boxes - Finished

I had this gentleman come to me and ask that I build him a couple of Shadow Boxes to display his Dad's old baseball gloves.

A fielder glove

And Catchers mitt.

He was in no hurry and I have had a shop full of projects so I have worked on these off and on. I would set them aside and they would get covered up and not worked on. Last week I decided it was time to get them out and gone so I didn't have to move them anymore and damage them.

Here are the frames I kept moving around.

So I got the bottom in, glass cut and installed and the hinges and lock on.

They are made from Red Oak with a General Finishes Mahogany Gel stain.

They were then sprayed with four coats of General Finishes Enduro Var. They can either be display down or mounted on the wall.

I am not sure what he is gong to put on the inside but I left the back the light color maple since the gloves were a dark brown to give some contrast and help them to stand out.

One more project down and delivered.

Great project for a great cause John. Nice and clean professional work there man.

Those gloves are in incredibly pristine condition!!! The catchers mit shows a tear up by the pocket but that was common during use for those gloves, incredible!

The boxes look great, nice color and even finish.

Cool ol project from admin Moody, I loved this.

Those are so nice, John. I'll bet he will really appreciate them.

Great looking boxes John

Those are just so nice.  How cool is it that the catchers mitt has a hole worn into it.  Those were the days.

your work is 1st rate John...

Thanks so much Stick.

Great job John. First class craftsmanship!

That is really outstanding!

I'm sure the customer was well pleased John.  Beautiful work to preserve and compliment family heirlooms.

That is a really neat project to display the baseball gloves.

I'm sure he really appreciated the shadow boxes.

Great Job!!

Thanks so much guys. It was a fun project. He was suppose to send me a picture with the gloves in the case but I don't think he ever did. I'll have to see if I can get one.
