Around here it's yard work, weather permitting.

Too humid to do much outside. May work on a couple of roughed out bowl blanks.

Considering selling my lathe after watching last night's club demo by one of the members. He did this in 2 hours starting form a solid, round blank. He said this was number 404. After the picture, it was placed in a forming/drying jig to give it the traditional "cowboy hat" shape. Finished thickness- 3/32"

That's one nice looking hat. Lew you have to have the attitude " I can do that, I just don't want to"😁.

Visit to the oncologist went well, cat-scan in 3 months and I'll see him again in 4 months.

Packing up our home, getting ready for the listing of our home, and hitting a punch list of todo's for repairs, the list seems never ending!

Headed early to Ohio State Fair to be a woodworking judge for 4-H projects. Always impressed with the work some of these kids do.

We had 2 inches of much needed rain yesterday. Bad part is it fell in a little over an hour. Picked up a sweet gum log from a neighbor this morning. It is 24 inches across and at least 2 foot is decayed badly.

Since adding to lean to found that I did not remove enough grass to edge of tin roof so finally got round to starting on that and put some slag in its place. Finally got back on lathe to build my inventory for season upcoming. Did bud vases today.

These pics are down the hill from our house. Had never really noticed but probably 10 acres across the road drain thru this creek or ditch as you prefer.

Wow!! Great projects. I wouldn't be able to pick one (i.e., I would be a terrible judge!).

That is amazing. I happened to catch one of these events when we had a timeshare at Lake of the Ozarks and the capabilities and imagination of these kids is unlimited.

It's been many years since I visited the Ohio State Fair, but one of my favorite areas was always the woodworking projects by the school kids (another was the mechanical stuff, especially the welding). But the stuff they did was truly amazing and beautiful.

There are 8 classes. There are three different "project books" of varying skill level. Each of them is broken into a class 13 years or less and 14 or older. Then there are two "open" classes. Each class has a specific set of tools they are allowed to use and how much help they are allowed to get (for example, the lower classes allows a helper to rip wood to specified width, later classes, the helper can demonstrate the process but the member must do it themself). And each class has a "skills project" that they do at the fair. It demonstrates their skill level and lends credibility that the project is all their work.

Unfortunately one of the better one I judged, the member used a power sprayer in a spray booth. That's the one thing that is prohibited in all classes. (Not sure why, I didn't write the rules).

They really do nice work! It’s great to see that some kids still like to work with their hands.
