Needed a box...

I needed a box and had a piece of 4x2 from a previous project, so I ripped, teared, shredded, mangled, folded, spindled and mutilated it into this.

And it actually fits what I needed it for.😲

Even after all that abuse it looks great.

Unusual looking box but I like it! Sort of reminds me of a Japanese box.

Not so much Japanese. Think more Army ammo crate.

Lol .... you're right! Too funny.

I went to Drew Langner's shop back in the '80s for a "Make a Chair From a Tree" workshop. He had a couple of Japanese tool boxes on the shop shelf. When I got home, I made a couple, then used them to store all my Shaker box jigs and hardware. Still have them. Made mine from 1/2" poplar. I put a till in one to hold some small tools.

A friend made some fancy ones for his grandkids (I think he has about 6 or 8 of them)

I see you can buy them on Etsy from $30 to $685. The expensive one is made from quarter-sawn sycamore, the cheap from 3/4" Home Depot pine.
