Friday May 29th, 2026 - What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Featured Replies

ChinScratch Looks like we made it to another Friday again folks.

Today we'll be loading up a van with old electronics for the yearly free electronics waste recycling program scheduled for tomorrow.

Other than that I guess I'll have to resume mowing next Monday when "No Mow May" ends. Ho_Hum.thumb

Didn't get as many wildflowers as in years past due to I suspect having the driest May on record after having had the wettest April on record last month.

So with that, What's on Your Weekend Agenda? WonderScratch

Busy weekend for us. Great granddaughter has a high school graduation party tomorrow (that must say something about my age) and some of the kids are visiting Sunday. If I get any free time in this, I'll be in the yard trying to split a boulder (maybe) and dig out some concrete that once formed a flag pole base. I also need to replant my sweet corn, about 1/3 of what i planted came up with all the rain we had. But it's still too wet to re-till so it may be a next Monday/Tuesday job.

After being away from the shop visiting family, got back to work yesterday on a rolling cart for my small bandsaw. Had assembled it before our family trip so applied a primer coat yesterday. Hope to paint and get working on the drawer and door. Still need to order wheels with locks.

You know, of course, you will need some of those parts next week!

Took a friend to catch a ride to Philly. Went to the hospital to visit a friend (he was asleep, didn't wake him). Fighting pool water chemicals. Acidity perfect, pH high. chlorine ok. Can't be any worse than the creek we used to swim in as kids!

speaking of houses, bought one yesterday (settlement in a week or so, still need to schedule that), an investment. long story, not making any money on the deal, but it helps out someone.

Don't need many AT/ISA/PCI parts now days, but I saved a few just in case.

Some progress (drawer not fully assembled, just in place to check size - it fits!).

Big Week & End, going and coming.

We had to put our Pit Bull down. Even today I caught myself calling out "Go For..."

3 tons of pellets humped into the basement on Thursday, I got them early to prevent a possible Tariff with Canada

P5291693.JPG

I spent today siting on lawn tractor going round in circle That was about all I could handle

But tomorrow we are have the first of (at Else 4 in the area) 'Fixit' days', where people bring items in that are broken and a group of "Fixers" try to put it back together again. I'm repairing Lamps.

Sunday we're putting out signs for another Fixit Day, I was supposed to have the stakes cut 😨.

Someone asked about helping out on a Deck replacement next Week. I may have to throw the "Old Man" card on this one, but he saw me humping 40lb bags of Pellets into the basement.

Another "Friend" has a "Simple Job", ("Shouldn't take too long") But the project requires 2 people

That brought back memories of teaching school! If there were no discipline problems for the week, Friday was Fixit day. Kids brought their electronic devices to work on. Man, talk about having your mind change directions with 20+ students/devices needing help!

My granddaughter asked me to make a cross for her that she could hang in her room and I finished it yesterday.

This is the first time I ever used 100% Tung oil on anything. I gave it 3 coats. I think she will like it.

in the old days, when buildings were heated with coal, there was a coal chute at ground level that dumped directly into the basement, so the coal truck could dump your coal right into your basement from outside (like concrete) without having to haul bags of it thru the clean house. i've seen a few in older buildings long ago. most have been bricked up with the advent of fuel oil or natural gas.

Have seen a few of those, too! My uncle had a coal furnace. Large decorative heating grate in the dining room floor.

Unloaded skid-steer trailer load of Maple taken down next door last spring by WE Energies so I can use the trailer to help my brother move weekend of June 12th.

Also did some "Early" mowing so I could get the trailer tires aired up, and get it out from where it was.

Put two wagon loads of electronics into the van for drop off tomorrow AM.

I do believe I'm done for the day. I'm POOPED. OldManSmiley

Cocktails and campfires for me this weekend. I will clean off the shed lathe and turn a few rolling pins and cutter handles tomorrow though.

Went to a movie and lunch with my son this AM . He had a wreck Monday and thinks insurance will total so we went to get his stuff out. Then stopped by Ford dealer to look BUT all they had was crew cab and F250. Did they stop making F150 XLT king cab? Anyway he insists on getting new and not used.

Mowed when we got home . Started hoeing the garden and decided to set up some poles for the butterbeans . These say on package "bush butterbean" but they are mostly putting out runners. Ended the day in the shop for a shortime finishing some product for my store. More of the same tomorrow.
