February 13Feb 13 It's Friday again Folks, Friday the 13th to be more specific! Here in the land of "Two Weeks from Anywhere" we're experiencing a mid-February thaw that might allow me a bit of outdoor shop time. So as I decide if it will warm up enough to do so,What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
February 13Feb 13 Popular Post Got a 4 hour drive to the airport tomorrow to pick up my girlfriend. She was flying in to El Paso, but as you may have heard there was a kerfuffle a couple days ago so she switched her flight to ABQ. Then the kerfuffle blew over (the world has gone completely insane is my view of all that!) and I said don't bother switching back - the airline is just going to charge you another $300 to do it and up in the big city there's a great pub for lunch (called The Two Fools) and a nice wood retailer I don't go to often enough. Going to drop in there while I'm in town and see if they have any holly without the blue stains. They had some about 4 years ago and I didn't buy any.... still kicking myself!Sunday just going to relax and do the "guests arriving house cleaning" that I should have already done! I might even get some more grips finished. Shipped 30 last week, I would like to ship another 30 soon. Edited February 13Feb 13 by JWD
February 13Feb 13 Popular Post One of my friends is a retired executive guy and now runs a professional woodworking shop. The local tool dealer is having him in for a three part series on cabinetmaking. Last week was carcases, this week is drawers, and next week is doors.Yesterday, I drove to Cleveland and back to spend a couple hours with my sister who has just gotten out of 4 weeks in the hospital and is now in a rehab facility. Frail, but improving a lot.
February 13Feb 13 Popular Post As I type this I'm in the shop, first time in a few weeks. Just putzing around making a new mounting board for the lathe chucks. Later I hope to get on to some other stuff.
February 13Feb 13 Popular Post Getting ready to head out for a few errands and hopefully take the car through the car wash. Oldest grandson has a home basketball game at 6P; it's the winter homecoming game. He also has an away game tomorrow evening. Sunday: church; youngest grandson has travel league games in the afternoon.
February 13Feb 13 Popular Post Don't forget, while today may be Friday the 13th Freddie Krueger Day, tomorrow is February 14th, Valentines Day. Fortunately, you still have plenty of time to get the love of your life that special well thought out gift. Rather than that last minute panic gift of a leftover, heart shaped box of candies, an abused teddy bear or a wilting rose while you're still in the check out lane, might I offer up a creative change. What says I care about you more than a dozen of...

February 13Feb 13 Author Popular Post Straining that last remaining brain cell trying to figure out what I've got, and what I need to get to remake that top cabinet for this dual Komputator setup. So far all I've managed is to give myself a head-ache.
February 13Feb 13 Popular Post I finished a fence I started two years ago! Just wrapped up the installation yesterday. Now I'll stain it this weekend. One more thing off the check list before listing the house.

One more thing off the check list before listing the house. My ex and I did a lot of in home remodeling, selling and moving to a new one to remodel. I never yet have lived in a home very long after everything was finished! Last one was the closest, we lived in it about a year after it was mostly done, slowly doing exterior work while we lived in the remodeled interior. Last thing I was doing before listing was pulling rocks and soil away from the back wall and installing some drain pipe to keep it all dry back there. One house in Tucson, I was finishing up some drywall and trim work around a french door we'd put in the master BR while they were showing the house. Everyone assumed I was just a contractor 😀So it sounds very familiar, and I feel your pain of having to wrap everything up with a deadline to get it listed!
February 14Feb 14 Popular Post Finally finished the mobile (has locking casters) air filter cart: furnace blower with 20x20 filters on other end of the cart with a bonus top work surface the same height as my tablesaw. Top is particleboard with a laminate type outer surface (was the cheapest option at Menards for 3/4 thickness). I edgebanded the top with oak to both deal with wear and also make it look nice - trying to up my shop appearance! Made a miscut so rounded the corners with jigsaw and sanding. Thats likely a good idea anyway as I seem to bump into every sharp edge in the shop on a routine basis. Some pictures
February 15Feb 15 Popular Post Well done! I've had a furnace blower sitting in the basement for 9 years now waiting for me to do something with it, maybe this is a possibility.
February 15Feb 15 Popular Post : have it on good authority that there is no such thing as a mistake in wood working, they are just a NEW DESIGN opportunity. excellent work on your cart, if i had any room left i would steel your idea for use myself, congratulations on a job well done
