Nice new look!

Just tried to stay warm over the weekend. Windchills near or below 0° Saturday and Sunday. Basement shop too cold to apply finish on anything.

After my rousing Super Bowl party I'm recovering...stayed up to 9:30 again last night, that's twice in 2 months! Marie and I feasted on wings and some leftover Pizza and watched some Netfilx. This week I'm hoping some slightly warmer weather will let me get back to the shop. I need to get a sheet of MDF for a bending form, unfortunately the snow drifts between the shop and the neighbors house are a little over 3' deep.....that also happens to be where i drive my truck to unload materials into the shop. If it melts down I'll be ale to get back to work.

I did a little tinkering over the weekend that I thought I'd share with you.

As I am sure you know most ratcheting bar clamps have the ability to reverse one end and make it a spreader. On several occasions I have used this capability to jack something up but it was pretty unstable.

So being bored to death Saturday I set about making a stable platform for my makeshift jack.

Worked pretty good.

This week I am going to finish insulating my garage door.

Cleaning up and stowing stuff in the shop. Getting ready for Open Shop Saturday. Swing by if you can get out of all that snow😁.

Going to try Tim Yoders Duck on the lathe. Should be fun.

Since we only had one outside volunteer at the furniture bank this morning, we just worked on building up the parts inventory for tables. I spent most of my time on the Kreg machine drilling pocket holes in the aprons. I would say it's a boring job. We did assemble a few tables at the end.

The musical review was this weekend so soon we'll be starting set build for "Frozen" coming in June.

Granddaughter went to her dad's over the weekend so the Mrs. and I enjoyed the quiet doing only the minimum daily requirements. Church Sunday, a couple errands after, trip to the recycle drop off, then later to our daughter/SILs for supper, watch the alternative halftime show and celebrate granddaughters birthday.

Week to be: Since the tools and surplus materials have not yet moved themselves from the storm cellar, I'll attempt that task tomorrow or Wednesday as we're supposed to get above 40°; Also have the backup well pump and tote of auction treasures to unload and still need to return the pump I didnt use. Meetings at the church TU/WE evening.

I know I'm getting tired of seeing snow on the ground. Donut think spring nor warm weather will arrive before March 20th now. I'm thinking about starting a petition to take legal action against groundhogs for meteorological malpractice.

Glad you liked the idea. I want to give you a couple of tip of things I learned making this one.

I used a 1/4" insert nut and paddle head bolt to hold the clamp bar to the jack base.

Jack-4.jpg

I almost messed up and placed the 1/4" set screw on top of the stop pin in the clamp bar.

Jack-5.jpg

If I make another one I will make sure the set screw hits above the clamp bar stop pin. This will help

keep the jack base from slipping off the clamp bar.

Hope this helps.
