January 26Jan 26 comment_369654 So life has been happening around here and between work and hobbies haven’t had a lot of time to post but things have slowed down just a touch.Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all. Sorry I kind of missed those milestones around here this year.I have gotten back into one of my favorite hobbies, high performance driving, both autocross and track days and I have been a bad influence on @Masonsailorbut he can tell you about that. Between that and work, I haven’t had a ton of time to play in the shop and build things but that is hopefully changing a bit.I was able to spend a little time today on a project I read about a long time ago. It was a test for apprentices for repeatability and accuracy. A simple cube, how hard can that be? Ok, it is a lot trickier than one would expect. It is like building a picture frame but in 3D. The stock must be flat and square. The 4 miters on each piece must be 45º. Any little error compounds and throws everything off. Great hand tool test for those who are into that sort of thing. Now I need to kick my butt into gear and build some more cabinets for the pantry. Report
