Spring is coming, how about an oldie but goody project for the patio or pool deck?

520 sqft never looked so big. It's been kind of the rage out here where I live on the left coast. Since affordable housing is not so affordable, folks are taking advantage of our new law we have, you can subdivide your land once, with little regulations, for the sole purpose of building an ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) or what us old timers used to call a Mother n Laws quarters, and selling or renting the unit. So it gives those with any amount of space in their backyard, the legal means to split their property, and build for the sole purpose of providing living space, legally.

I thought this would be fun to look at for anyone who is thinking of an additional dwelling on your property, regardless where you live in our country.

The way the weather forecast looks I think I'll help Larry this week.

Took apart and re-glued a wobbly chair, then reupholstered the seat.  A chair from the furniture bank that needed some help.   This afternoon, planed and jointed some pieces for a quilting friend of my wife's.

I wanted some shelves in my microwave stand to better organize the skillets and cook books I store in it.

In order to optimize the space in the cabinet I built the shelves in three pieces so I could assemble them inside the cabinet. The main section had two vertical supports with two shelves, this gave the the opportunity to try out cutting dados with my new table saw. Worked out well.

I put two insert nuts in a piece of wood at the top of the two vertical supports for the shelves and a third vertical piece to support the left side of the top. I drilled six holes in the top and used six 1/4" machine screws to mount the top to the shelf unit.

I only had about 5" of clearance to install the screws and I didn't have a short wide blade slot screwdriver to install the screws with so I took a medium sized washer and ground down a flat spot on the edge and use that to screw in the ..........screws.

It was made with 1/2" birch plywood.

So working on that and going to to dinner Sunday with my daughter, granddaughter and 5 members of my wife's family is how I spent my weekend.

Thought this posted hours ago...don't know what happened????

Watched a great football game Friday night at least from a Hoosier perspective. Saturday, Mrs. and I attended oldest grandson's JV basketball tourney. They won both games thus crowned tourney champion. After, we ran some errands, then had a late lunch at our favorite Peruvian restaurant followed by a late afternoon siesta. Sunday, Church in the AM, quick lunch out, home for a bit, then attended youngest grandson's basketball travel league games; they remain undefeated. A couple errands after.

Today, I did the minimum daily requirements; tomorrow taking the Mrs. to her 3 mo follow-up cardiologist appointment. I suspect my reward after will be a few errands.😉 The remainder of the week hopefully is errand free. Shop remains closed due to inclement weather. Winter donut season doesn't open for a couple weeks yet.

No minisplit install on Monday as scheduled. 😕 I guess the unit had not yet arrived at the supplier. Hopefully today...

Well, looks like Wednesday for the minisplit. Looking forward to getting this part of the shop upgrade done!

Looks like a very nice solution.

So I’m told I’m getting discharged from SNH hospital today! Second time of getting Pancreatitis in 5 years, with no explanation of why for either. Actually put me in the same room as first time. Can’t wait to get a good nights sleep, in my own bed! I’ve had better weekends! 🙂

Prayers for you Artie as you recover. My "battle cry" has become "a bad day/ night at home still beats the best day in the hospital." Stay strong my friend! We're here when you need us.
