This is a Cross I just finished making. It's made out of Teak and likely will be a Christmas gift.

It took me a couple of days to make it. It's more difficult to make than it looks and requires a fair degree of accuracy.

I still need to apply a finish and it likely will be blonde shellac. I'm not sure yet and will do some finish test samples and see.

Stay tuned! ....

Thanks for looking!

Cheers!

Here's an update on my Christmas Cross.

Two coats of 2 lb shellac. And one French polish coat with 1 lb shellac.

So here's an update. I've made another one. The one on the left was the first and started this post. The one on the right is the new one.

The original on the left was assembled using a backer board. The new one on the right is doweled and mortised. You can only assemble with dowels going one way so the mortising is necessary to complete the connection joinery. (Zoom in). Also the beams are a little wider so the gap openings are a little narrower. It's a very small difference between the two. It's difficult to say which I like best.

Merry Christmas EVERYONE!

Both are excellent Rick. Personally, I really like the second one simply because it's cleaner without the backer board. I kinda like the more narrow gaps as well. I'm also partial to seeing the joinery work too.

BTW, fantastic miter work. Thanks for sharing.

@Grandpadave52 yeah...I'm probably partial to the second one too. But for sure the first one is stronger and you don't really see the edges when it's hanging. They both look nice hanging and construction isn't really seen by the eye. The miters are though and on both they turned out well.
