September 19, 2025Sep 19 Popular Post Welcome to the forum. By the way we like pictures. Hang on and someone will be along asking for doughnuts
September 19, 2025Sep 19 Popular Post Welcome @MrRick to The Patriot Woodworker. Glad you found us and jumped right in with content. Looking forward to your ongoing participation with us. Don't hesitate to ask questions about the site. As noted, we love pictures of shops, projects, new and old tools. Great group of "characters" here. Just keep your eye on @HARO50John.😉 Ps...you'll likely hear a lot of chatter about donuts here. Be at ease though. I'm diligently trying to track down those members who are attempting such a coup on a woodworking site. Until then, a friend asked "as the newest member here, when will you be providing Tim Hortons for everyone?" I'll let you know when I find those culprits attempting the donut coup.

I had you down as somebody that has a background in something along those lines, I just hadn't asked you yet. My guess was correct 😉

December 22, 2025Dec 22 Welcome aboard. Since you have a background in mechanical engineering, you’ll probably appreciate the tolerance levels on higher-end gear, though even basic stuff works if you tune it right. I have a Ryobi table saw that needed a bit of adjustment on the fence to get perfectly square, but once it was dialed in, the repeatability was actually decent for the price. If you’re looking at shop layout, definitely prioritize dust collection early on because it saves so much maintenance time on your motors later.
