Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted August 11 Popular Post Report Posted August 11 To hot to do anything outside, except early this morning I went out and picked 2 pecks of peaches, we had a great peach crop this year. So today and probably tomorrow I'll be making peach pies and cobblers to freeze; carefully supervised by Marie, of course. Gerald, Harry Brink, steven newman and 5 others 4 3 1 Quote
Popular Post lew Posted August 11 Popular Post Report Posted August 11 I've been release on "no cash bail" from dish washing duties. Ryan, the repairman, just left after replacing the drain pump in our dishwasher (the mechanical one). Ryan is a great "kid" and a graduate from the Appliance Repair program at the school where I taught. One of my early students also works for the same appliance store. He's been there since he was a senior in my Electronics Technology class. Next up a trip to the post office to send back my sister-in-law's 75 year old clock radio. "Repairs" consisted of replacing the volume control with a switch/volume control combination. The clock worked fine but the plastic stepped riser that controlled the alarm/radio was worn/cracked and not replaceable other than an entirely new clock mechanism. The clock company is no longer in business and none found on the typical WWW sites. Was able to bypass the electrical functions of the multi-selection switch to deactivate the alarm/wake/sleep/radio. It's now a "radio that works and a clock that tells time." Doing some research on how these are made Looks like an interesting project! steven newman, Gerald, Gunny and 4 others 5 2 Quote
Popular Post Gunny Posted August 11 Popular Post Report Posted August 11 Day started off with a Chevy 4500 bus for airport. They put an alternator on and it was cutting off. Gee, maybe don't ground out the main power wire for the alternator to the AC compressor? Required a new 50 inch main power wire. Was rather pricey repair for them. Gerald, Al B, Fred W. Popular Post kmealy Posted August 11 Popular Post Report Posted August 11 Still on a road to recovery. First was a stomach infection that took 4 procedures to find and diagnose. Then two weeks of hell to get it gone. Then the dermatologist did 4 biopsies for various spots. Then I was just starting to feel better when a UTI hit. First med was not the right one, so got switched to another. In between, saw a new endo, and this morning had 15 vials drawn for blood tests. Some of the results are back and those appear OK, but a bone scan and thyroid scan are scheduled for a couple weeks. Getting old is no fun. steven newman, Gunny, Al B and 6 others 2 7 Quote

Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted August 11 Popular Post Report Posted August 11 Errands Saturday plus got the TPMS sensor replaced on my car. After mowing daily 3-6 hours/day 7 of the last 10 days, the mow-a-thon has concluded as of yesterday. Everything mowed at least 2x, some 3x and a few 4x. Finally got the 4+ acres (3+ mowable) back in shape; me not so much. Mrs. & I were out early today. She had a follow-up appointment with her cardiologist. He ordered another test, some Rx changes, then see him again in 2 months. From there drove south to look at "portable" garages. We were able to walk through several but turns out the place is closed Mondays. Did get catalogs and price sheets. Considering 24x24, 24x36 or 24x40. Mrs said go with the 24x40. Since today is our 52nd wedding anniversary, we then went out for a late lunch at a small town west of Indy (and I mean small town) family owned/ operated Italian restaurant. We found this place for our 50th; went back last year for 51st. Staff and service is amazing and personal; "chef" and owner is Italian; really nice guy... anyway, lunch... Large salad included plus endless refill beverages (non-alcoholic) Had to bring cannolis home; better than a donut Mrs. wanted to stop afterwards at an area, local, family owned greenhouse for some fall vegetable plants. Gone a total of 5-1/2 hours; about same drive time to Nashville, TN in 1973 after we were married. Funny how things change in 52 years. NO plans to mow this week; do need to perform routine maintenance on the mower; outside work will be dependent on the weather. If I don't find something to do, Mrs. will so better find a clip board to carry around. steven newman, HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 4 others 7 Quote
