Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted July 21 Popular Post Report Posted July 21 Hoping for drying conditions starting today after several consecutive days of rain. Assuming so it'll be the beginning of mow-a-thon and any other outside work I can get done ahead of the outdoor barbecue forecasted later this week. Mrs. took the week off so I need to find things to keep me busy and out of harms way. Al B, HARO50, lew and 4 others 6 1 Quote

I was in Brockton, MA with my Aunt, Uncle, and Grandmother visiting my cousin and his wife. My cousin was stationed in the Navy there. His wife's parents and her sister were also visiting. We too were glued to the TV that night (morning) when Armstrong stepped onto the moon and delivered his now famous message. Edited July 22 by Grandpadave52 lew, frenchwwr, Fred W. Popular Post DAB Posted July 22 Popular Post Report Posted July 22 so my friend and architect, Bob, calls out of the blue last week, he's wrapping up a house build, and needs some shade covers for door/window, so he can get the place certified as "low energy" (i don't know the exact cert.). sends me a drawing of the shade structure he has in mind, 2 of them, identical, out of marine grade plywood (1/2" as it turned out). i study the drawing, and when he drops off the plywood, we discuss his design. i make a few suggestions, and we finalize the details. 4 feet wide, 3 feet deep, sloped at 5 degrees for drainage, painted flat black (i have paint in hand, yay!). get to work on them today, almost all done, just need to add the banding to the edges tomorrow and then paint (2 coats all sides). the short leg will get bolted to the side of the house with long lag bolts, i'll drill holes later for them. the 2x2 was cut from a scrap pressure treated 2x4. all glued and screwed together. it may fall off the house, but it's not coming apart. #0 biscuits to hold the edge trim on, about every 6 inches lew, Grandpadave52, Gerald and 4 others 7 Quote

I wish I could have reallocated some Kevin. Of course, the accompanied heat, humidity and dew points would have been added at no extra charge.
