Eagle carving in 3D?

Carving completed, except for some touchup details. I'm trying to work out how I'm going to carve the feathers. The gold leaf came in yesterday, for the gilding. When feathering is done, onto the plaque/gilding/painting. Should go with the above two photos!

Took a decoy-carving class years back. The accepted 'best way' is with a wood-burner pen.

Love the details . If I did not know would say it was from the late 1700's to mid 1800's . What a style.

Two coats of shellac and two coats of gesso, lightly rubbed out, done! Everything is now ready for the gilding. The plinth is also ready and it will just get a band of leaf.

Oh wow! That gold leaf really brings out the detail. This one is going to be amazing.

Project completed! This eagle stand 14" tall. I was surprised that the gilding took almost a full book(25) of leaves to

finish.
