Popular Post Gerald Posted June 3 Popular Post Report Posted June 3 I don't think I missed it but my calendar says it is Monday. I got more of the brush pile cleared over the weekend and more of the same today. I actually turned some character tops yesterday and more today. Christmas trees and snowmen. Tomorrow will continue to clear the pile while my son burns the small stuff, ok not a small pile. What did you get done and what is on your agenda? Forgot to tell y'all They got the building permits and start on concrete tomorrow on house and Wednesday on the shop. steven newman, DuckSoup, lew and 4 others 5 2 Quote

Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted June 3 Popular Post Report Posted June 3 Over the weekend I estimate I cleared 100 acres of weeds with the weedeater and mowed approximately 1000 acres of overgrown grass; at least my body says those are accurate numbers. Youngest granddaughter received her first, real world, formal job offer Friday afternoon. Apparently she interviewed for it the week before she graduated. After lots of "coaching" weighing pros/ cons she starts on the 16th with Purdue University. She'll be using more of her Chemistry degree than the Biology side. We're pretty proud and thankful for what she has accomplished. Even more thankful she'll now be contributing to "our" Social Security. Week ahead, mower maintenance time, granddaughters car hopefully only needs A/C charged, wife's car needs serviced, haircut Wednesday followed by errands and need to do some rearranging and cleaning in the garage. So, basically nothing fun. Oh, almost forgot; need to order a lower shaft unit for weedeater #1; bearing seized. Weedeaters are like clamps, you can never have too many so at least a couple will start and run. Harry Brink, HARO50, Gerald and 6 others 5 4 Quote

Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted June 3 Popular Post Report Posted June 3 Got a few minutes in the shop to spend time on my American Women (formally incorrectly called Famous Women by me) display frames. There's 4 of them, each holding 10 quarters. The coins area released over 4 years, 10 a year so I'll have a frame for each year. The wood used will be different in each frame as will some of the details. The frame itself is a segmented ring I turned, and the pieces holding the coins were also turned. The insets are all veneered with the woods I used. The one in the pic is a red elm frame and the inset is red zebrawood (African Zafell)). The coin holders are hard maple. There will be a brass plaque in the center designated what year the coins were issued. I would be remiss to not mention all the help I got in the turning forum trying to get these things put together, got a lot of help there. So anyway, we're having really nice weather for the first 1/2 of the week so my shop time will be limited as I try to move on to more yard work. Somewhere in here I'm sure we have a doctor visit scheduled, and the dog may even have to go to the groomer. Gordon, Grandpadave52, JWD and 9 others 8 4 Quote
