March 4, 20251 yr Curious, has anyone here tried the EC Emmerich hand planes, they've always fascinated me and I've been tempted quite a few times. But each time I ambush the effort. I am not interested in the mechanical Primus planes they sale, but the more traditional planes with wedge and iron.
March 4, 20251 yr No personal experience with them John but I've read others reviews giving great praise.

For what you are getting that's a heckuva plane, I've read few reviews too and folks seem pretty happy with them.
April 30, 20251 yr Popular Post Highly recommended. I have three ECE bench planes and one Ulmia. None of them have mechanical adjusters. I love them all. Perfectly made. The irons are easy to sharpen with Arkansas oil stones and a strop. Setting the cutting irons takes practice but it’s not difficult. I have never had any issues with warping due to changes in temperature and humidity. My workshop is in the basement. Climatic conditions are consistent. The bench planes are their short try plane (~21 in), gent’s plane and block plane (older version-no adjuster). The Ulmia is a scrub plane. I bought the try plane and the gent’s plane new. The others were eBay purchases. They required a little fettling when I first got them. I also own one of their rabbet planes as well as their plow and moving fillester planes. They work beautifully. I hope this helps.

February 23Feb 23 The very one you show above I used many times when I worked at Lee Valley. It is so beautiful and comfortable planing with it that it's hard to put it down. You know the return policy of LV is unconditional and you can return for any reason any time and get a full refund.
