Michael Thuman Posted November 23, 2024 Report Posted November 23, 2024 I have some long wide plain sawn boards that have cupped. I plan to split the board along the maximum line of the cup. Then I should have much flatter two pieces that I can join back together. But the max line where the board is cupped the worse run in a diagonal sort of. So I drew the line and will spilt on my BS when I get the new tires installed. Then I will joint that BS edge and then see where we are. Hopefully after rejoining I can glue them back together along that jointed line and will that result is a flater board? lew and Fred W. Hargis Jr 2 Quote
Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted November 23, 2024 Report Posted November 23, 2024 That will (should) work well. I've done that a few times. lew 1 Quote

Michael Thuman Posted November 23, 2024 Author Report Posted November 23, 2024 Pictures The bottom board high spot is 6 -5/8 one end and 6-3/8 from the opposite side on the opposite end. Top board is closer but still high spot on ends is offset by 2" Total wrap in the board 1/2" bottom and 3/8" top. If these were 2x boards I may just joint and TP them. But as they are 1x boards I need to be conscience but my Jointer is only 8" Where my TP is 15" So even when flat I split them then joint the back together. Fred W.
