I'm new to foxalien I am using Carbide Create software and I am trying to figure out how to set the machine to stop for bit changes from one tool path to another. Will the gcode tell candle what size bit is needed and when to change it or are there other setting that need to be set

Generally there are post processors for machine with automatic tool changers, and ones that process one toolpath at a time which stop when done.  Save each toolpath as a separate file and run it.  When it stops change the bit for the next one, then load and run that new toolpath. Repeat until all toolpaths are complete.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try. I operated a large CNC in a sign shop before I retired but, that has been several years ago. We used ArtCam software, which is no longer available, so I am just playing around with this desktop CNC and trying to get used to the free software and its limitations.

Welcome @Duane Bledsoeto The Patriot Woodworker. Glad you found us and came aboard. @4DThinkeris a great resource in the world of CNC here as are some others. Don't hesitate to ask questions as they arise and keep this thread alive with updates to your progress.

I'm of little help when it comes to CNC'ing; I'm mainly here for the donuts. Speaking of donuts, new guy or lady always brings donuts for the gang. Your day is tomorrow. Leave 'em in the breakroom on your way in to your workstation. I'll take care of distributing them.;)

Yo Gramps, ya called out the wrong Duane :)

Mr. Bledsoe contacted me with confusion trying to figure out why our software was telling him there was a reply to a topic he created. Just a heads up for all to be aware when choosing names from that drop down menu, I've done it before too, inadvertently choosing the wrong member.

So I guess you owe Mr. Bledsoe some donuts for causing such a stir! :D

Oops. Fat finger on my tablet pop-up window the likely culprit but probably needed to clean my glasses. It is possible I may have dozed off about that time and my finger was just lazy.;)

Sorry for setting off the panic alarm. I'll go sit in the corner.

Our chances for donuts just vanished

I have some apple cider I bought on a whim last week, planning to make some apple cider donuts soon.  Already reduced most of the cider (5:1) for the deep fry recipe I found on the internet, going to do one more reduction batch, leaving just enough cider for the baked recipe I found on the internet - that one uses straight cider, not a reduction.

Traditionally, these have cinnamon sugar on the outside, but I always find that the wonderful coating tends to fall off too easily.  Should I glue it on with some maple syrup?
