September 25, 20241 yr Popular Post Hello, my name is DeVere and i'm a woodworker. I recently discovered the Patriot Woodworker site and joined up. If you are reading this and are a Veteran, Thank You for your service to this great country. I am not a veteran, but sincerely appreciate those who are, and those who are no longer with us. God bless all of you. Me? Well i am an expert at taking perfectly good wood (and imperfect as well) and eventually reducing it to saw dust. I am truly amazing it. But seriously folks... I am currently working at perfecting my passion of creating Native American Style wooden flutes. (I am not Native American nor do i purport to be.) Having been drawn to the flute's sound and music, i began the process of designing and creating them about four years ago. I've made a few wonderful (ahem) pieces of camp fire wood along the way too! My wife and best friend (ain't it cool when they are the same person) encourages me daily as the journey continues. (Thank you Baby!) Anyway, thanks for reading. Thank you for this forum, i hope to learn from the many who post here. And again, thank you Veterans.
September 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Welcome aboard. Lots of great folks around here that are more than willing to share their experience and wisdom. I, too, am a master at turning perfectly good wood into sawdust and noise. But that hasn't stopped me from inflicting my 'projects' on these unsuspecting souls. One thing you will definitely hear. WE LIKE PICTURES! Good, bad, ugly or gorgeous. We like 'em all. And donuts. Can't forget the donuts. Since you're the new guy, it's your turn to provide donuts to the breakroom. Haven't quite figured out where it is yet ...but the requirement still exists.
September 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Welcome to the forum, what more can I say it has all been covered. By the way the sooner we get pictures the sooner the rumbling settles down.
September 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Welcome @DeVereto The Patriot Woodworker. Glad you found us and came aboard. I don't even excel at making firewood from perfectly good pieces of lumber but they let me hang out here. I can't put into words how great the folks are here. Trust me though you'll experience it. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your flutes as well as other projects. As for the donuts, someone will direct you to the break room. Usually you can just follow the crumb trail. Normally one of my tasks, but I'm on a temporary medical leave.

We know about the Krispy Creme runs you bribed the staff into getting for you!! 5 hours ago, DeVere said: Well i am an expert at taking perfectly good wood (and imperfect as well) and eventually reducing it to saw dust. September 26, 20241 yr Welcome to the forum. Everybody above has covered most of the comments would make....but I would like to see pics of your flutes (and maybe some of that designer sawdust).
September 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Welcome aboard! I can attest that half of this group is one brick shy of a load but it is a great place to hang out. We are a very visual crew here.

September 26, 20241 yr @DeVere, welcome to our community of wonderful woodworkers! Sure would like to see some of those flutes you are making, please consider sharing in our Woodworking forums and even post those flute images in our gallery. Hope you keep coming back, thanks for joining us!
September 26, 20241 yr Author Popular Post Well, y'all asked for pictures (and donuts) so i created a gallery album. It's simply titled "DeVere". Hope you enjoy them. Advice is always welcome. Disclaimer: I am not a photographer nor a baker so, the pics are cell phone novice level and the donuts, well... they were here a minute ago...not sure what happened...darn sticky fingers... (I had to move this from another thread where i mistakenly posted originally. This raspberry glaze really is messing up my ipad screen...)
September 27, 20241 yr I'll send you my address and you can send some of that 'firewood' my way. Very well done, sir!

Then add in the "stir" to the normal crazy, well ain't good for none of us. Did I mention I miss donuts the most? Oh look, was that a squirrel...did he have my donut. Would you repeat the question again?
