For some time I have been using components from an old bicycle chain I had laying around but I finally ran out of links. Some of you already know what a cheapskate I am so a few weeks ago I went to a bicycle shop here in town and asked the owner if he had any old chains I might be able to talk him out of and he was kind enough to give me several.

So I decided to return the favor and give him the first box I made using links from the chains he gave me.

I try to do something a little different on each box I make. On this one I used a Natural wood stain for the interior of the box and Golden Oak stain

for the exterior.

I used the same braided paracord with chain link component ends for the two handles but since this was going to the bike shop owner I came up

with a new idea for the lid lift handle using 4 links of chain and a long screw.

Hopefully he will find a use for it in the bike shop.

Pretty neat idea Bubba.  Tell me more about the handles.  How do you braid it and how do you tie it off?

Cal, for the handle I use 325 size paracord and use the Cobra Weave knot.

As you will see in the video you don't tie it off you burn the ends. You use about 1 ft of paracord for each inch on the handle.

Braiding paracord is another of my hobbies and I have made survival bracelets using several paracord weaves, key chains, zipper pulls, lanyards and various other uses.

@Cal I told you wrong on the paracord size for the handles. It is # 95 size NOT #325.

Sorry for the snaffo.
