Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 15, 2024 I was able to make a lumber run Friday. My grandson asked me to build him a coffee table and picked out a Mission style. I needed some QSWO in thicker pieces than I had on and so i picked up some 5/4, 6/4, and 8/4 stock. Working on his table now. Otherwise I was trying my hand at another live edge bowl and still find myself to be anything but a turner....someday maybe. Bright spoit for us last week was we are getting sweet corn out of the garden; the only thing that beats that is when the melons (cantaloupes) come in and the tomatoes. Popular Post steven newman Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 15, 2024 Been trying to mill parts for a Shaker Style Sofa Table... Monday? Leave it at that....3 days until Pay Day gets here....Boss has HER errands to run, TODAY......supposed to get into the 90s today, with storms...not a good day to sleep in the car, while she is doing her things.... Will see how the 4th leg looks after it comes out of the clamps.. Grandpadave52, Fred W. Hargis Jr, John Moody and 2 others 5 Quote
Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 15, 2024 Managed a few outdoor and garage projects Saturday without melting. Almost beat the rain home after church and lunch yesterday. With the heat and humidity following, I did NOTHING until late evening. Pulled a few weeds out of the garden and sprayed the broccoli, cabbage, brussels and cauliflower which tuned out to be TWOT since it rained overnight. Week ahead, the yard needs mowed should it dry out; it's pretty soft still and more rain + storms in the offing over the next 48 hours. Mrs. is taking some vacation time this week so I'm guessing she'll conjur up some priority projects for my benefit. PSA #4; avoid extended periods outside with the extreme heat + humidity; rest often; drink plenty of fluids, aka water; and... As you ramble through life, whatever be your goal; Keep your eye on the donut; and not upon the hole. Al B, John Moody, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 2 others 2 3 Quote
Al B Posted July 15, 2024 Report Posted July 15, 2024 It was hot and humid, but it had to be done. Finally had to mow the lawn that was beginning to look like a hay field. Had the pedal almost to the metal on the John Deere but got it done. Took about 1 1/2 hours. Kept a bottle of cold water handy in the can holder. Gerald, Grandpadave52, John Moody and 1 other 4 Quote
Gerald Posted July 15, 2024 Report Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) Went out to pick up a display case for my turnings this morning and then took half the afternoon to clean and set it up . Boy was I hot after getting it into the house. Guess I will have just a little shop time now. Getting ready for Open Shop Night tomorrow and I will be demonstrating the project. Starting this afternoon on a box for AAW Forum exchange. Edited July 15, 2024 by Gerald Al B, Grandpadave52, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 1 other 4 Quote
Popular Post JWD Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 15, 2024 The big accomplishment for me was dragging the dryer into the garage and taking it apart to get at the drum roller with a bad bearing. Rollers use plain bearings, this is the second time I've done this job as the replacements only seem to last a couple years. Dryer came with the house, probably dates to 2011 or so, well past LG's likely designed lifetime Got just a little woodworking done, shortening some handguards for a surplus German rifle. I'm about the only one doing the work anymore as the supply of surplus dried up several years ago. This batch I'm working on now is probably the last I will do. Need to make a plant stand for my girlfriend, still ruminating on designs for it. Got to go below a window and have an upright part at one end for a long stringy plant..... I think I have enough leftover African mahogany for the project on hand. Grandpadave52, John Moody, Al B and 3 others 6 Quote

Yeah they are good retrievers and when he's a little older we will probably get him trained. Hoping to take him with me dove hunting and I would love to take a trip to go pheasant hunting and take him along. We had a yellow lab for years and had to put him down about 4 years ago. It has taken us a while to decide we wanted another one as we were very attached to the last one. Gerald, Grandpadave52, Al B and 1 other 1 1 2 Quote

kmealy Posted July 18, 2024 Report Posted July 18, 2024 Well, I got a text from the theater set construction manager. It appears there are some major dimension changes in the works. Fortunately, they came after the first weekend of production and not the last. We got a prototype cabin wall built and base for a center platform (stage), so I'm not sure yet which or both need altered. Grandpadave52 and Fred W. Hargis Jr 2 Quote
