Craft Table Part 1 - No CNC involved

Wife volunteered me to make her a craft table to replace the folding plastic one she was using.  Looked around for some ideas and didn't find any plans I really liked so i borrowed from a few different ideas on Pinterest and winged it.  This design as you go is time consuming and can get really really frustrating.  All I bought was a sheet of oak ply and the hardware.  Everything else came from current stock, cut offs, and scrap on hand.  Started with a "basic" type frame for each side and just kept adding sides and shelves.  Will just trim with 1 1/4 strips cut from scrap.

Looking good so far  HJ.   As I can clamp boards vertically in my CNC frame my addiction to using it for joinery would have led to box joints CNC cut on the outside corners.

I do see some grain direction conflicts in the build though.  Those solid wood panels will grow/shrink in width as humidity changes.  You might shear some screws off where the vertical panels meet the horizontal top and bottom.  Plywood for the vertical panels against the side grain would be my choice.

Looks like a good hearty craft table John! Thanks for sharing and good to see ya around here!

By the way, I went ahead and moved this topic from the CNC Forum to the General Woodworking Forum since "No CNC Involed". :)

Like I said earlier, I would do things different if it was for someone else.  Wife just wanted a functional piece and I used what was available in the shop pile.  It should serve the purpose for a while.

Geese please don’t show this to my wife! Looks great
