Popular Post Murray Posted March 3, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted March 3, 2024 I have an old piano stool with screw type height adjustment. It hasn't been used in quite a wile and the round seat will not turn. It is in the full down position. Could the steel threaded rod be seized? Should I try spraying some bolt release or anticize liquid on the threaded rod where it goes down into the base>\? Thanks Murray Grandpadave52, lew, HARO50 and 3 others 6 Quote
Popular Post lew Posted March 4, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted March 4, 2024 First, welcome!! There’s a good possibility that the threads are clogged with years of dirt. I would take the wooden seat off of the height adjustment mechanism and look for contaminated threads. Whatever fluids used to free the threads might damage the finish on the wooden parts so caution is advised. KevTN, Gene Howe, Cal and 4 others 7 Quote

Gerald Posted March 4, 2024 Report Posted March 4, 2024 If seat does not turn you may not be able to get to the screws to remove seat. Try lock ease on the threads at the hub. Then wire brush the threads. KevTN, Cal, HARO50 and 1 other 4 Quote
