Speaking as a "professional" from one who has seen many similar cases such as this at least in West Central Indiana, the diagnosis and short answer is yes. He needs those purchases to satisfy his buying and refurb addiction. There remains no known cure or vaccine although toolologists continue to delve into the mysteries of the illness. From my perspective, it's best to keep at least a 6 foot distance from the patient when you encounter one at a yard sale, flea market, antique shop, tool crib or any other similar place.
