Thursday...a large, HEAVY box appeared on my front porch....opened it up, and spread the contents out, a bit..took up half the table's top...but..

The Ring?  Goes on a finger, then you pull a strip of leather through..cutting a strip that you can adjust the width of...

That saw blade gave me a poke, during the un-wrapping..

C clamps, anyone?

and a few squares..so...today's task was to clean and sharpen..and repaint as needed....

What had looked like a pair of tweezers was a solid brass pair of dividers 4"

Tear the bevel gauge all the way down..shine up the brass fittings, shine the steel parts up...straighten the blade..give the sanded wood a wipe down with oil.

Squares?  Bottom one was from Henry Disston & Sons No.1, 6" try square..not too sure about the other 2..top one was a rusty mess...that is not the smallest block plane in the till..but very close to it.

These look any better?  No. 67 is now SHARP, Block plane is too..Turnscrew looks better,All metal  square is a Stanley SW 6" Miter square..and as for that rusty double Spokeshave?

Wire wheel clean, gloss black paint, both irons sharpened and set..Under the handle, and under the two cap irons is the No. 60...Early model Stanley?

Saw has E.C. Atkins stamped on the blade.  Depth adjuster on that block plane is NOT gray plastic...but a type of cast metal.

The orange clamp is from PONY...and needs a bit of 1/2" pipe.  The Craftsman Handle? Is to hold files and such.  That metal cylinder, is hollow, and has couple of bits inside...that fit into a slot...in one case, it becomes a t handled Gimlet Drill...Those are not tweezers, that is the Brass 4" dividers...Not sure about the fat body handle..yet

Unscrew the butt end, until a file will fit inside, then tighten things up.  Holds the file securely..

First half is done...start on the other half, tomorrow?

Update...besides a trip to Harbor Freight for a new Green Stick..a new 4" x 36" sanding belt , and a new 6" brass wire wheel...(.Old wheel threw a wire at my face..FIRED)

Fat Body handle?

That be a sewing needle..supposed to be a way to thread the thread THROUGH the handle, and then the needle...Leather work?

The Arco Company..paint can opener on this end, flat blade screwdriver on the other..other side says ARCOZON?

Need to order ( or go to Hobby Lobby) a bit of brass, and this Stanley No. 77 will be done ( scroll saw a "Moustache" brass wear plate..)

Never seen a c clamp with a hole like that...this was a rusty mess..was..

Had a spare 1/2" pipe...cleaned this end..repainted the wheel..other end?

 

Hardest part, was getting that end ON the pipe

This thing, not sure who made it...one end unscrews, and a few bit roll out..they have a couple slots, that fit LOOSELY in the hole in the middle of the "case",,,right now, it is a Gimlet drill...

This didn't really need much done to it..Model No. 64000 from Klein Tools of England...."made in England " is even stamped on the Phillips bit

Compared to a Stanley No. 135..

Got rid of the rust on this block plane, sharpened the iron...oiled a couple threads..ready for work...thinking the MIGHT be from Great Neck Tool Co.?

Some sort of cutter, maybe cutting leather strips?  Needs the cutter sharpened, bolt cleaned up,,,maybe a fresh coat of paint?

yes leather sewing awl.  should be a thimble for thread under the cap at the end of the handle.

 

 

Been trying to get that cap off...no luck, yet.

Ok..it LIFTS up out of the handle..DOH!..no thread, though...Hmmm...

it's a heavy waxed thread that I have seen.

Steven you must have a neighborhood reputation as the TOOLMAN. A question the tool you called  a turnscrew. I know is for use on planes. I am wondering did it come with a plane or is it an extra purchase?

 

Almost forgot Your pictures have a blur and I know you got a new camera not long ago. What is causing the blur?

Ever since the camera was DROPPED on the shop floor, while trying to attach it to a tripod....Camera is having issues...and I can just go out and buy a new one..

 

Turnscrew is another name for Screwdriver...The only planes I know of that had a screwdriver sold with them..is the Stanley Combination Planes..like a No. 45 that I have..

Some of that "Blurr" comes from the camera NOT on the Tripod....shaky hand syndrome?

And..no, I can't just go buy a new camera...not in the Budget at the moment

 

Use a scroll saw to cut Brass sheet?    The No. 77 needs two pieces cut, and one will need shaped....The 77s had a wear plate, Brass, shaped like a handlebar Mustachio...

 

 

Ok....Last of the rehabs from that box..

Once a new wheel was installed on the grinder..

The green crayon for the Unicorn...

New wheel installed....

Cleaned up the Stubby Screwdriver..then

Flattened the sole of this plane..and sharpened the iron on the UNicorn..

And, it is not even the smallest plane in the shop..

Mr. Foster takes that honor..

The Leather slicer was taken apart,,all the parts cleaned up then fought with the bolts to put it back together..

Even sharpened the cutter..

A lot of the handles needed a coat of varnish..so..

Bench became a drying rack...the other block plane from that box?

has been cleaned up and sharpened, sitting next to a Stanley No. 60-1/2...even that eggbeater got a coat..

As well as the handles on the Stanley No. 45

 

That should it, as far as the Rehab stuff goes...

 I knew I shipped it to the right address

Next project for February...tool cabinet annex.
