Grandpadave52 Posted January 18, 2024 Report Posted January 18, 2024 (edited) Excellent rescue Ric. I've seen several on CL in the Indy area lately, but all have been 3 phase. Maybe a month ago, someone had a NOS cast iron extension for one. It was priced well. Do some searches on FaceBook Market place. Just type in tablesaw in the search field. You might check Grizzly for a mag switch. Wouldn't be the Delta, but comparable. Edited January 18, 2024 by Grandpadave52 HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Larry Buskirk and 1 other 4 Quote

Popular Post knockonit Posted January 18, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 18, 2024 ill get it cleaned up some today, may have to take the top off and get inside, hate doing this, resetting and tuning top is time consuming but in the end well worth it, but the angle knob is stuck, and in my impatience, i tend to muscle things, so hehe, i stepped away yesterday for a bit, probably oughta just bite the patience bug and dismantle all the way and clean it up, in side and lube that jewel. did possibly find a switch, the cast iron extention seems elusive at the moment, have to do some more research, used to be a old equipment bone yard here in phoenix, but in my search didn't find it was in the old location, so. see what we can do. gotta get shop up and running, need to make some dust, and a lot of it, my therapy sessions are presently far and inbetween. happy thirtsday, hehe, rj in az HARO50, Grandpadave52, Larry Buskirk and 2 others 5 Quote

Popular Post knockonit Posted January 19, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 19, 2024 well now, the new to me table saw needs some love, for sure, so present status is, gonna have to take apart, remove table top and get into mechanism for tilt, thinking the locking knob is either broken off in shaft or missing, and its corroded enough to not budge, so, gonna pull the lid, fire up the hand torch and warm some stuff up, lol, gonna maybe have some fire as i douched all with penetrating oil, and of course decades of dust caked all over, may need a full rebuild, big issue is again parts, but am determined to make it happen, figure i['ll stumble across the parts needed eventually or use some of that ingenuity that the world speaks of about Americans, or well they used to. just what i needed another project, haha at least its gonna be warm for a few days, happy sunday Rj in az Cal, Grandpadave52, HARO50 and 4 others 5 2 Quote

Ron Dudelston Posted January 19, 2024 Report Posted January 19, 2024 Nice grab! Any idea of the year of manufacture? Cal, Gunny, Grandpadave52 and 1 other 4 Quote
Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted January 19, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted January 19, 2024 RJ, you can get the age of that saw by looking at the serial number (tag probably on the back side). The first three characters should be the date of MFG., the rest is the actual S/N. So the first 2 numbers will be the year, and the letter will indicate the month....January is A and so on. Popular Post knockonit Posted January 20, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 20, 2024 thanks, gonna do the final research once i found the issues. here are some pictures the one of the shaft with all the funk on it, was the culprit, as most uni saws have a lock on either vertical or the angle tilt, this one had been locked tight, and had so much gunk in it and corroded that it was frozen. The problem was you can't take out the main working frame from cabt, without tilting the arbor, so, i did the next best thing disasembled the whole arbor and angle jobbies in the cabt, was an ugly thing, found that at my age i could still do the angle of the dangle, but me fingers sure are sore, i figure they were lucky a major failure in the motor wasn't happening, and to make things ugly, whilst i was cleaning motor and pulling wires, i dropped the little green ground screw inside the motor, i was horrified for about ten minutes till i shook, cussed, moaned, groaned, till it fell out, whew, had visions of taking it to a motor shop to get that demon out. any howz, tomorrow, will clean all the rust, corrosion, ect, gonna have to find some dry lube somewhere, had no luck at the dip chit store, boy that place is nary a good joint to get anything, i tend to go to ace hardware, they have the stuff, anyhowz, heres some pictures, now if only i can remember how it goes together. happy friday evening Rj in az on another note, the last pic is the angle tilt, the holes you see, hold a couple cone shaped alum pcs that they used to lock the shaft, a screwed knob inserts thru the turning wheel, and you tighten it to hold your angle of the dangle, only issue is, they are alum, and we all know what happens when alum begins to corrode especially with wood sap, moisture and reacting to other metals, anyway, i forgot to get a picture of the small cones, they are ugly little suckas, so now issue is to come up with a knob set up, i'll have to make one, as i can find none anywhere for these saws, me thinks i can find a bolt, use my wood lathe to cut the shoulder down using a file, and kinda yankee one in there, will see whut happens, am trying to decide if i should replace arbor bearings, they sound fine and no play, see how it goes after i take arbor a hundred percent apart. yeehaw Grandpadave52, Gerald, Cal and 3 others 1 5 Quote

Popular Post knockonit Posted January 21, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 21, 2024 well now, i'll post some pics when i have time later tonite. spend later yesterday evening cleaning up all the gunk, and some time today.managed to get cabt. cleaned up both in and out, and primed a few questionable spots inside cabt. Gonna let it set till tomorrow as we are supposed to have a ugly rainy day, so i'm a gonna seal up the cabt in equipt area to help facilitate dust collection, will alum tape all gaps, holes ect. then wax entire inside to hopefully keep it slick enough to cause the dust to move on better, After cleaning all the cast iron, removing rust, ect., and touch up damaged paint with some ugly black stuff to assist in resisting the ugly rust from lumber moisture. I coated it all with a dry lube, i use it saw blades a lot so know it will also assist in keeping the gunk away. And when i drop the large cast iron top down on it, gonna put a weather strip on top of cabt, to seal up the huge gaps, again to assist the dust collection. Have a new mag switch due on monday or tuesday, managed to clean out interior of motor as much as i could, yesterday while removing wiring, which i may have mentioned i dropped screw inside motor, i did a count of screws via my picture before dismantiling to ensure i did in fact get it out, lol, I am going to have to make a bolt lock for the tilt, today managed to figure out thread pitch and size, will have to hit up a real hard ware store, like ace to get my bolt, it not i'll get some stock and a die and make one to fit. may have to use my wood lathe as a metal lathe, using a file, but i can do it lol, any howz, am excited to add this to the other junk in shop. the right tilt saw will be on left, and left tilt will be on far right, at end of a 56'' fence, i have the unifence and love it, so going to stick with it and keep the same size saw area. that way my foot print does not change much. so now i'm a gonna have to do some electrical work to assist install, decided to hard wire the two saws to a j box, attached to a disconnect so i can kill power to work on them, issue being i can only run one saw at once, which is a good thing, the power drop also will have a outlet for the 15 inch planer which resides on far right of table saw along with a dust drop. i'll get picture, with this new layout, i pretty much have my shop where i want it, i think, lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll no one said sorry for the long read, but needed to get it out of my system again pictures of cleaned up unit next. happy saturday rj in az Cal, HARO50, Fred W. Popular Post knockonit Posted January 21, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 21, 2024 well, supposedly gonna rain today, so cranked the heat on in shop, even though its a warm nite, but gonna glue up some boards for some cheese cutters, and work on assembly of the new to me saw. pics of cleaned up units, was gonna repaint cabt. but decided a lot more work than i wanted to do, besides once it gets enclosed by all the crap that will eventually end up around it, it won't matter, lol, i just treated anything that looked like rust for that prevention and said, yeehaw, lets putr together. i coated all the cast with a dry lube, its similar to the stuff i use on saw blades to lube up when doing a lot of cutting, of course i clean teh blade before an application of it, it appears to assist in function. also paste wax, regularly on all metal surfaces, makes the ''slide'' much easier, wasn't able to find ''fibre'' washers, so found some nylon ones to suffice , i do realize the fibre will hold lubricant, but the washers are only spacers on tilt and height rods to isolate metal to metal on a few points, and since its not a full time use, me thinks the nylon will function nicely with a coat of lube. still have a few small parts to clean up before assembly, bots, drift pins ect. and the huge metal dust cover on side for motor housing, have to come up with some sort of latch as the one delta had on it, of course is no longer available along with other parts i'm a gonna make. heres a few pictures to show some success. will show off the interior of cabt. once i tape and wax, to give an idea of my plan for assisting in dust control happy sunday. taking the ole gal out for a ''bisquit'' and a juice, maybe that'll calm her jets. rj in az Fred W. Popular Post knockonit Posted January 24, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 24, 2024 today i intend on assembling table saw back together, had to make some fiber washers, ended up using gasket material, and since its a low speed use on the angle dangle knob and up and down knob, they oughta do fine, not like i turn'm at warp speed. and my guess is the fiber washers tend to hold lubricant somewhat. managed to tape the inside of the cabt pretty well, plan was to use a weather strip at the table top to base, but after reading about garbage in, garbage out, think i'll let it be open till i try the exhaust system. expect the new mag switch today, and by monday should have the tap and die so i can make the locking knob for the angle dangle side. I can mig weld, but gonna take my pcs down to a friend and see if he will tig them, much cleaner and less filing, ''i hope'', i haven't addressed the cast iron top yet, but its not bad, previously the seller cleaned it up some, but i'll give it the Rj clean up, seal and wax it a bit, then the real work begins, my other unit is still in its rolling base, so gonna have to pull the table extention off, fence off, pull out of base, level it up, set the left tilt in place and tie it together with the fence, then finger out the small table between saws. think i'm a gonna build a off fall shelf/table maybe two feet deep, and do away with the present fold down i have on other saw. helps me to run larger pieces when i have no assistants on hand. and it will assist in covering the dust piping so i don't stumble ect on it. will provide some pics once i get organized and some things accomplished. happy humper day rj in az Grandpadave52, Fred W.
