steven newman Posted October 14, 2023 Report Posted October 14, 2023 Was covered in dust and crud...View #1 View #2... There is a thumbscrew...that secures the iron.. One end of the "iron" is more like a cutter from a hand plane, however.... Along one side of the iron..there are these profiles.. Not sure what this is for...no markings to be found.. Popular Post steven newman Posted October 17, 2023 Author Popular Post Report Posted October 17, 2023 Well...it did clean up rather nicely.. Seems to work best like this as a scraper...left hand rests on that smooth, cup like feature...other side? The "iron" is a tad too wide, to turn it 90 degrees...Will research this a bit, and see HOW to use those shapes... It does have a Patent Date.. PAT. DEC. 8 99.....as in 1899...Hmmm... frenchwwr, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Grandpadave52 and 3 others 6 Quote

Grandpadave52 Posted October 18, 2023 Report Posted October 18, 2023 Cool. I'm wondering if it's some type of "crown molding cutter" used in making decorative profiles in plaster molding? Patent era seems about right. Not sure exactly how it would work. Just a SWAG. steven newman, Larry Buskirk and HARO50 3 Quote
Gerald Posted October 18, 2023 Report Posted October 18, 2023 The profiles look like they were done after market and used with out handle as a scraper. But boy that would be a lot of work. HARO50, steven newman and Larry Buskirk 3 Quote
