My wife wanted a pumpkin to hold large mason jar style candles. I turned this for her out of a piece of walnut. She was going to paint it but said she likes it better without paint.

I made an indexing wheel for my lathe. I set it up for 20 lines. After they were marked I cut them with an angle grinder and 40 grit flapper wheel.

That's a neat project. I agree about no paint!

 

Yep no paint on walnut it would be sacrilege. You might want to look into creating a router jig for the cuts . It is much easier to control. Don't think I could do it with a grinder.

I didn’t want it to look too perfect. I purposely made them a little off with extra marks here and there.

For whatever my two cents are worth, I agree with the consensus, It looks great as is.
