Yeah, but an old idea that works just fine apparently doesn't sell any soap or pay the mortgage.  If there is one thing that most of these videos have in common it's that they propose to fix something that isn't broke.  Sometimes New is better, but Old got to be old by outlasting proposed changes.  

Cannot see why you would want to spend so much time doing dowels when you have everything to finish except the screws..

I still don't belive dowel joints are "incredibly strong."    I've repaired way too many.
