April 13, 20233 yr Popular Post Any concerns about stretch marks? Wonder if one can stretch a dollar in a similar fashion?
April 13, 20233 yr Popular Post and this is why you keep cutoffs, so later you can re-attach them to once again make the short board longer and avoid these shenanigans. "nice board you have there, what is it?" "well, it started as oak, and then became oak/walnut/cherry/ash/ and oak again." "how will you stain it?" "look you, one problem at a time...."
April 13, 20233 yr Popular Post Normally all I need to do is shorten a board. I did use the above trick to reshape a rectangle into a square though. https://4dfurniture.blogspot.com/2023/01/making-square-table-top-from.html When I needed to lengthen a closet dowel I came up this radial finger joint to connect two short pieces into one long piece. Only used it once when I had a student who wanted to have a post in her coat rack design change from oak to walnut. She couldn't find hardwood dowels any longer than 4' and this was a more creative extension to get them to 6' long. 4D Edited April 13, 20233 yr by 4DThinker
