October 22, 20223 yr I've this older 8 inch jointer, well when purchased quite a few moons ago, all went well and worked fine, but since the move to new home shop, its having some issues, me thinks the boys might have used the table to lift, and put it outta wack, can find no cracks breaks ect. but now when using it is not straightening the board, instead it seems to leave it crowned in the center, just a smidgen, but as we all know a smidgen doesn't cut it. its a copy of delta, am just getting into figureing out how to adjust, so any guidance or direction for info would be greatly appreciated, straight edge on both ways, indicates one or the other way is tilted down. i'll try and get a pic, see what can be discussed happy sunday rj in az
October 22, 20223 yr The only time I have a problem with mine is when I try to take too small of a cut, aka just a smidge, off. Don't know why it matters but it does.
October 22, 20223 yr Sounds like your outfeed table is not level with the cutting knives. What I would do though, firstly is to level both infeed and outfeed tables with each other, set a straight edge over both and make sure they are dead flat with each other, just to eliminate the possibility of table issues. If both the tables are dead flat with each other, then I would bet that all you need to do is raise your outfeed table the same height as your cutters. To do this all you need to do is plane a board till you get enough snipe that sits over your outfeed table, raise your outfeed table up to the bottom of the sniped board till it touches. Also, make sure your knives are sharp, dull knives can cause this even if the tables are set perfectly. I won't go into feeding of material methods, as you are experienced, and you stated that it all worked fine before the move, so you obviously were feeding the material correctly in the past. Hope this helps!
October 22, 20223 yr Author and after dropping a 8 ft straight edge on it, its exactly whats going on, now i have to figure out how to adjust outfeed to level, boy howdy, appreciate all the leads, the rest is just execution of resolution, maybe another donut and a mimosa will motivate me to getr done. thanks all rj in az

October 22, 20223 yr Might have had shims on outfeed which fell out in the move. Usually outfeed is not as easy to adjust as the infeed side. here is a reference also: How to adjust a jointer Edited October 22, 20223 yr by Gerald

October 23, 20223 yr Author has a small handle, which does the same, but, no way to adjust the ways on unit, i watched a couple videos on shiming the ways, pretty straight forward, gonna give it a go tomorrow and see what i can accomplish, need to replenish my shim supply.
