BillyJack Posted September 29, 2022 Report Posted September 29, 2022 I think with a little common engineering you could make your own. A Festool Domino just oscillates left to right... lew, Cal and Grandpadave52 3 Quote

I tried making a plunge router jig a few weeks ago but did not get the slot parallel to the fence so trashed it. Cal, lew, Artie and 1 other 4 Quote

They were long overdue (IMHO) for a huge upgrade....I absolutely despised that platform they had. It was only a short time ago I found out that Martin had written that original software himself. I guess that's why I hadn't seen it elsewhere. John Morris, Gene Howe, Grandpadave52 and 2 others 5 Quote

I think they are selling just the bracket/fence assembly and you add your own router. Still seems too good to be true. .40 Edited September 30, 2022 by forty_caliber Artie, Grandpadave52, Fred W. Popular Post Gene Howe Posted September 30, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted September 30, 2022 Since (IMHO) biscuits and dominoes are mostly only good for panel alignment, a router cut slot/groove/dado and an inserted spline, works for me. Grandpadave52, Cal, Artie and 4 others 7 Quote

Popular Post BillyJack Posted October 1, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted October 1, 2022 Dominos increased production. If you have it you use it and defend it, if you don't you use the other more traditional methods of construction. Artie, Gene Howe, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 2 others 5 Quote

4DThinker Posted November 25, 2022 Report Posted November 25, 2022 While I don't have a Domino machine, I did buy some dominos-by-another-name for use to reinforce butt joints in furniture. I've got a CNC with a jig that I can clamp just about anything into for cutting slots. I also have a router table that can easily cut slots parallel to an edge. The ready-made compressed wood floating tenons get used frequently. Alternative attempts to duplicate the zig-zag slot that Domino machines I enjoy seeing, but have no need for. IMO the real treasure of the idea is not the machine. The ready made floating tenons are where the value is. A plunge base for a trim router and a template bushing, along with some templates for the different sizes of dominos and you've got the gear to duplicate every slot the Domino machine can cut. 4D Cal, Grandpadave52 and Gene Howe 2 1 Quote
