Managed to slip in past Monday....and nobody noticed?

So..Tuesday has blown in with the wind....What is on your week's schedule?

  • Popular Post

Week's schedule??? Only 4 1/2 days left and, I'd forget my plans on day two. Heck, I forget what I'm doing as I'm doing it. Besides, Phyl hasn't weighed in yet. :OldManSmiley:

This afternoon,  I'm assembling a chair to sit in at the carving/scroll saw bench.

Will go back later and put a cover at top of the box and probably fill the box with foam for just in case weather.  And add some more dirt to trench after the rain settled some areas somewhat

Taking it easy, installed a well pump Saturday "Three Weeks From Anywhere", and an outdoor spigot Sunday.

Might mow Thursday.

Drafting chair assembled. Adjustable height is nice. Added a lighted magnifying glass to the scroll saw. Haven't yet tried it without my trifocals. The light is sure bright, though. Ordered an array of good Swedish made blades. 10 day shipping wait. So  fun is over for a while. Back to those tables.

Yep. I collect, or used to collect, old hinges. Pre-Phillips-screwed hinges. Even into the 1950s I'd occasionally find a wardrobe with old slotted screws on the hinges.  Guess when they are ordered by the thousands, Owner Man tells his people to use them up.

Bet they come in handy. Instead of running hundreds of feet of hose!  Frost-free hydrants are a lot of effort to install but are the ultimate.  In the trade, we assume a few hours below freezing is not enough to split a pipe. Unless there is a cold wind blowing on the pipe. An open bathroom window above a toilet bowl can freeze and crack a toilet bowl :OldManSmiley:

I'm making a panel to set in a sunny westward-facing window. For when I want to tuck in with an audiobook early.

Yesterday cut the wood with care, last night got the frame started, a U for now, carefully square.

A trick for split prone edge grain or, punkiness, when installing hinges is to add a few drops of thin CA glue in the pilot holes, and let it soak in.

We are headed out this morning for that northern woodworking Mecca, otherwise known as O-HI-O.

No need to get an early start, we would just get bogged down in Atlanta.  Maybe an 8:30 start, should put us into Atlanta around 10:30 where we should be able to get through non-stop.  I didn't say quick, just non-stop.  That'll be a win in my book. :)

Be back in a couple-three weeks!

Geralds faucets don't look like any of the Frost-Free Hydrants I've seen. But we're in a colder climate area.

Mrs is on vacation (well, staycation]. Grandsons spent last couple days with us...gone today, then back tomorrow. Plethora of projects inside and out await attention.. Broke a belt on the mower deck which then destroyed an idler pulley. Have the parts now but I'm doing battle with another kidney stone...so far it's winning. Put out a "Silver Alert" for my get-up-and-go. Should you see it, call authorities immediately. Not considered dangerous...easily enticed and calmed with a fresh chocolate covered, glazed donut.

Rarely below freezing for more than one maybe two days here. Til he builds will probably just use compressed air to blow out the above ground stands when it gets that bad. Maybe in the future will put faucet in ground box.

A few years back we had our well line freeze 4' below ground. :(

Had a month of below freezing temps.

What a PITA that was!

Up in the mountains, we had a couple days of sub zero weather. All our above grade water system pipes were heat taped and insulated.

Unfortunately, Arizona Power Supply picked those 3 days to be out of service. Every exposed pipe froze. One ruptured. Took 5 days to get every thing back to an unfrozen state. It was miserable. The next week, we had a whole house Generac installed.

Shortly afterwards, we got hit with another 10 hour power outage. That generator earned it's keep then and, several times later  too. Best money we ever spent.

Pretty sure mowing is what rattled mine loose (again). About 1/2 of our 4 acres is like mowing across cobblestone.

Ominous feeling no good will result from this. We best pool resources for bail money:Laughing:
