July 7, 20223 yr Popular Post FINALLY done! Well, as organized as it ever will be. The hardest part was finding places for all my table saw and, other jigs. Wanted to have them handy to whatever machine they're used with. There are a few small odds and, ends that still need a home but, the bigger stuff is all in place. At least the middle of floor is no longer a repository. I can actually work without needing to move a bunch of stuff around. Will be assembling the scroll saw stand, today. That's the last piece of the puzzle.

July 7, 20223 yr Popular Post i'm not sure i know what a clean and organized shop would look like, probably my sock drawer, mismatches and nothing easy to find. Rj

July 7, 20223 yr Popular Post Well my outside work ends when its 103 on the back deck in the shade and venture inside inside for a cool one and I just made it before it went past the mark. I can tell you are not anywhere close to my age and have a memory problem like I do!!!! I don't waste as much time when things are out in the open. I had just built a 40x60 shop at the go-cart track and I spent most of my time chasing go-carts from one end of the property to the other of the 4 acres and we had lots of high school boys working but that didn't start till about 4 in the afternoons. So most of my days there was keeping everything in good condition from the weeds to the carpet on the golf course and making sure those Honda motors would start the first pull for the school guys seem to not have enough enery to pull the rope more than once per motor! So I decided smaller would be better so this shop was 30x50 the first time. This was before we had a house on this property. We had so much shop stuff to be moved a large shop was first on the list even before we had a house to live in here. But I had forgotten there would be no go-carts to worry about so that would put me more shop time and adding a camper that would sit in the shop I started adding 12 more foot to the shop in the first month living here and now its 30x62'. The extra length was cause I sure didn't want that camper sittin outside. Also not working anymore sure was a surprise for now the weekends are twice as long after I stopped working for a living and I am surprised as how some of you gripe because of Monday's. I am the other way thinking the week end is finally over so now I can get back to doing something!!!!!!!!!!! I try to put everything out in the open and easy to get to and I don't waste hardly any time looking for something!!! I don't like my stuff in drawers Gene I hope you put the scroll saw table at chair height for I spend many hours at a time using the scroll saw and I tossed that three legged stand that came with my scroll saw after the first couple days of use. I keep it so cold in here that a frozen cloud forms early each day I spend in the shop and have to go inside to warm up?.
July 7, 20223 yr Popular Post lol, that looks like my joint i lack organization, i try, but well, i try rj in az
July 7, 20223 yr Author Popular Post @Smallpatch Jesse, this DeWalt stand isn't adjustable. It's on 3" casters, too. So, the table is at 44". For now, I have an upholstered bar stool that'll work until something better shows up.

Mine is just like that too Patch...from about mid November to mid April. You don't wanna' stick you tongue on anything metal.
July 8, 20223 yr Popular Post well now, seems reading some threads on shops organization, i've decided to re adjust, not re organize the joint. lol. i'm short on space, and have quite a few tools i want to re align so to speak. adding another tool like the new free standing router table causes flow issues, i still have flip carts for some tools, i guess if i quit collecting stuff, i'd have more room. I tend to think two of each tool is better, when it is when one dies or breaks down , i don't have to stop my process, anyhows, moving some bigger tools around so i can incorporate the jet 10 inch cabt saw with the add on sliding table, been on my house patio covered up for a year trying to make room, but have decided, somethings gonna go to make room, my old uni saw from the late 80s needs a new table extention and adjusting, so it may be religated to move on. been a helluva work horse, i struggle with the chop saw, i love having it available for quick cuts, but am thinking it takes up so much space on a wall area. see what happens when i relocate it, the flow still isn't right, and the fact i want to delve into the cnc router world doesn't help. i do have a small lazer engraver ole gal wanted to try, and she does the tech stuff, i'm not good at it at all, i'm a const. guy, little rough sometimes with the tech stuff. anyhows rant over, gonna get some pics today of the mess, and see if my daughter who arrives today can help me post pictures. happy friday, glad to be here. Rj in az
July 8, 20223 yr Popular Post My scroll saw stand was identical so I figured who come with that design thought scroll sawers only spent a very few minutes with the machine running. When I start a scroll saw project it usually takes a day or two sawing and as I need more small holes for inside sawing or what ever my chair has swivel wheels so I can spin around and be at the drill press before I have to stand up and I have things sitting on the carving table I usually need there at the saw so I have made it where every thing is real convenient. I had bought one of those round magnifying swivel lights at a garage sale years ago and just a month or so ago I changed the 8" round fluorescent bulb to an led bulb and boy hidy it made these old eyes see the lines again. Its forcast to be 107 today so don't know how long I can spend in the water fall cave!

July 9, 20223 yr Lowes or Home Depot has them. Just take the starter switch out and wire it directly to a regular switch. I guess any toggle switch will work.

They are better than the old fluorescents. But not nearly as good as a true LED built light. I have several like this still running,in 4 ft and 8 ft sections.
