My daughter gave me a box of 40 paint pens. I had an old rejected turning and used the paint pens on it. My wife took one look and said “NO”. To be honest I knew that would happen. I don’t care for it either. I like the natural beauty of wood. It was a fun project and kept out of trouble

Ron, try a turning and add some burn lines.  Use the pens to color between the lines while it is still on the lathe running as slow as possible.  Puts the stripe the other direction but looks good too.  Here are some eggs done with ink and a small brush employing that method.

Using color is somewhat subjective and in my opinion must meet some criteria. I like the burn lines as a limiter to color bleed. The second way to color is either blot on in random pattern or spray on with airbrush to areas with overlap. After adding color this way a light mist of solvent ( for the color I use alcohol) to blend the colors. Also color can be added with colored pencils.

I agree, added color is ok, but just ok. I like the wood grain and natural aspects of Gods creations.

Gunny would agree that color is good.

Hey that is doable. Colored pencils work great
