May 14, 20223 yr Popular Post I think they are for making cracklings before one puts them in the oven to render out the lard to make them eatable. Yep, I've eaten lots of cracklings with edges made from those tools! Edited May 14, 20223 yr by Smallpatch

May 14, 20223 yr Popular Post Oh boy, that brings back memories! My grandparents raised hogs and geese back in the old country, but this IS a family-friendly site, so I'll leave it at that!
May 14, 20223 yr Popular Post Best part of hog butchering was the cracklins made in the rendering tub. Then of course, piglet castration time yields some tasties, too.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect you got the best end of the deal. Friend of mine was a bog poker player, he said they always had mountain oysters at their monthly poker game. Fortunately for me, I don't play cards.
May 15, 20223 yr Popular Post During school, one of my good friends raised sheep on his farm. He said the process of turning a ram into a wether was to snap a big rubber band on the affected area. He said you did not want to be standing in front of it when your dad did the deed. And they walked funny for a few days.
