Yeah, it's puzzling to me...most things I've seen about glue actually ask for slower setting glue.

I thought about faster set when doing these puzzle pieces but the Tite Bond II I had on hand worked fine.  Didn't use clamps either.

Required Clamping Pressure: Use only enough pressure to bring joints tightly together (generally, 100-150 psi for softwoods, 125-175 psi for medium woods and 175-250 psi for hardwoods).

Age-adjusted pressure ratings:

 

75psi - Sort of tight (commonly called "tight enough")

125psi - Wow, the wood might crack

175psi - Ouch, it hurts my hand trying to get it that tight!

Yeah, I saw their promo.

 

If you have a complex assembly, like a chair, liquid hide glue has a long closed assembly time (so you have time before it starts to grab)
