Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted February 14, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted February 14, 2022 A couple of weeks or so ago I was following an on-line auction that was just a few miles away. A lot of varied type of tools, equipment, contractor supplies, some household etc. Backed off of more lots than I won, but these items followed me home. About $1.15/ea with buyer premium; 2 lots of files; 31 total, several new; some with minimal use; 2 or 3 to be repurposed?? The large rasp to the far left may be a farriers rasp versus wood, but if it'll cut a hoof, should cut wood. There was a third lot much later in the auction. Nothing special in it; files appeared used much more...maybe 12 total?? Sold for more than both of these lots combined This lot was later in the auction. $27.60 w/premium. 13 new, 1 used, reciprocating saw blades, 3 new hacksaw blades, new unused 14pc Bosch Masonry bit set, Irwin, Uni-bit, a WHOLE bunch lot of new, 1/4" lag bolts, Hanson 8" square, Stanley, 8" adjustable square, a Craftsman 3/4" chisel (head mushroomed no extra) but the business end near perfect + miscellaneous. Hanson square already gifted to daughter's fiancee'; probably some of the recip blades will be too. $2.30 w/premium. Figured the 4 gun locks were well worth that not to mention the master locks. All have their keys. Various assortment of putty knives, scrapers. Upper right of cardboard box (3) new, 4x24 80 grit sanding belts. Putty knives, scrapers, & 2 of the yellow gun locks gifted to daughter's fiancee' $26.45 w/premium. (7), 10" blades; 2 NIP, B&D fine tooth, used 1x??? a little rust); 24T, 36T, 48T, carbide; need cleaned for sure; probably need re-sharpened; something to practice with on my sharpener if nothing else??? Not pictured, NIP 7-1/4" B&D plywood blade Middle, left, NIP Delta, 7" adjustable dado (marked $44.95); I have a Craftsman version that came with my table saw package 45 years ago; used it a few times,; kinda scary...at least sounding but it did work. One on lower right is (or was) a 7" ferrous metal blade. pretty dull; may see if I can sharpen it; if not, it'll make nice marking knife blades or ??? $29.90 w/premium so about $6/ea piece. All work; don't think the light was ever used??? (2) saws very little; battery holds charge as it should; There were several Ryobi lots; most all were the newer "lizard green"; all had one battery and charger as this set did. Most of those sold within 25% of new so I backed out of those. Already gifted the light to daughter's finacee'. I have a Ryobi light like this plus Craftsman 19.2v that is identical. Bought a few other lots; various construction nails, roofing nails, finish nails some screws, etc. Less than gas for a trip to town & back would cost if you need any of them. Haven't really looked through much. It was 5* the afternoon I picked stuff up. Finally got it all out of my truck just before the "blizzard" hit. Anyways, thanks for riding along. Gerald, Fred W. Popular Post kmealy Posted February 15, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted February 15, 2022 Are you aware of Boggs Tools that resharpens files and rasps? IIRC, it's a few bucks each depending on the size and cut, plus return shipping. If they deem not sharpenable, they will either return to you or discard at your choice. https://boggstool.com/ Grandpadave52, Fred W. Hargis Jr, HARO50 and 5 others 8 Quote
Popular Post Cal Posted February 15, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted February 15, 2022 Quite the haul Dave I have my eyes on an older Craftsman lathe at auction today. Just not sure if I want to get it or not. It looks pretty much like a Delta-Rockwell that I've seen posted up recently. This comes on the rolling cart, grinder, and a box of rusty chisels. Last I looked it was sitting at $30... DuckSoup, FlGatorwood, Gunny and 5 others 8 Quote

For what I know (not much) those are good Ole lathes too. Looks like it comes with a 6" grinder mounted to the table too?? DuckSoup, Cal, Gunny and 3 others 6 Quote

From just quickly going through these, the majority seem to be in pretty good condition. Most I looked at were either Diamond or Nicholson, all US made. IDK why one guy had nearly 50 files; he probably bought them all at an auction for 10 cents/ea. Artie, Cal, HARO50 and 5 others 4 4 Quote

On 2/14/2022 at 5:59 PM, Grandpadave52 said: $29.90 w/premium Patch, dollar amount was total paid for that lot including the premium the auction company charges for each lot sold. For example, a winning bid of $10, would cost $11.50 with a 15% buyers premium. Some charge less, some more, some offer a discount if you pay cash at pick-up versus using a credit card. Pretty common practice for on-line only auctions. Hope that makes sense. Al B, Artie, FlGatorwood and 4 others 7 Quote

Why did he need 40 hammers? Some brand new never been used? 3 circular saws? All new in box? He and I would have hit it off. Don't think I have 40 hammersbut now you have me wondering? Yep, a few are new never used too. In the good old days, Big Lots/Odd Lots used to close out name brand tools. Good thing I've given some away or maybe? Now I've got to do an inventory. Only 3 circular saws? I'd be ashamed to disclose how many of those I possess. Darn yard sales, flea markets, pawn shops and people just giving them to me...they should price them higher. I didn't show the one I bought in this sale. Skil, 7-1/4", model 574, probably mid, late 1970's?...$3.45. Good carbide 24t framing blade. Even had the blade bolt wrench taped to the cord. Plugged it in yesterday...doesn't work? Cord maybe? If not, it becomes a parts mule for my other 574's. HARO50, FlGatorwood, Gerald and 5 others 8 Quote
Popular Post Smallpatch Posted February 18, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted February 18, 2022 Okay I got you. Many in our area never added any extra to the bid price. Some did go up 3%. And about 15 years ago my 30 x 62 foot barn go so full I couldn't get the doors to close so I figured I needed nothing else. DuckSoup, Gene Howe, Artie and 4 others 5 2 Quote

Popular Post HARO50 Posted February 19, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted February 19, 2022 (edited) Just took a quick inventory.... counted 41, from about one ounce to 14 pounds! That includes rubber, dead-blow, wooden, shingling, sledge, bricklayer's... anything with a separate head on a handle. Carver's mallets don't count. Probably 1 or 2 more in a tool kit or a vehicle. Saw one special-purpose hammer I ALMOST bought a couple of months back, but decided against it. After all, when am I going to drive in a railway spike?????
