January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post A gentleman on another forum read my lamentations about the possible demise of my beloved PC 690 router and, contacted me with an offer of 4 such treasures. I chose two with plunge bases. $50 each, Plus shipping of $47 for both. UPS will be at my door Monday. I'm ecstatic! Norm Abrams seemed to have a router for every bit he owned. I'm not there yet but, the stable is growing.
January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post Who says there isn't a Santa Claus? A friend works in maintenance at a hospital. He says they don't change router bits, they just change routers.
January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post Bob Rosendahl from the "Router Workshop" show said once that he believes for every new bit you buy, you need a new router. One of the better moments from an otherwise sleepy show. Anyway, congrats on the find!
January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post Altho I have a small collection of routers, I'm not really a router guy, but the theory appears to be sound I have applied that same type of theory to grinders, a grinder for every wheel

January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post I'm glad that worked out for you Gene. Second hand is the best way to get what you want sometimes. Lots of lightly used equipment out there.
January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post Gene that looks like the new BANDIT deal to me. @frenchwwr I do not see a CBN in the bunch. Maybe need a new grinder

Maybe need a new grinder These are my basement grinders there are more in the barn, as much as I hate changing wheels I also hate to walk back to another shop to get a tool. You are correct, I do not have a CBN, something to look at later. My grinder collection needs a little attention in the not too distant future.

February 13, 20224 yr Popular Post I've got two in D handles but only the two plunge bases. I guess I'll keep an eye four for motor units only. The D handle units are gold to me in cabinetry.. A D handle router base without a router is a serious crime in my shop , don't let it happen.. I'm hoping if I use two of the same 690 plunge bases on the router crafter I would only need to change routers instead of bits... Edited February 13, 20224 yr by BillyJack
