traveling tool box

I got a post from FWW a couple of weeks ago about Mario Rodrigo's traveling tool kit.  I also saw one from Frank Klausz on his tool box article.  While I'm sure my repair work differs slightly from their install work, I have a well-tuned kit that went with me on jobs for structural repairs, upholstered furniture repairs, recliner repairs, and general repairs like doors and drawers.  Also had a canvas bag with a variety of glues and epoxies.

Not shown is my bag with a cordless drill and accessories like bits, drivers, Kreg Jig, and a few screws.

The little wood box under the screwdriver is a 35+ pc. microdriver that has a ratcheting tool that takes the included driver bits of all sorts -- phillips, slotted, square, Pozidriv, Torx, and metric and SAE hex, and metric and SAE 1/4" drive sockets.

I learned early on that you don't just take in the 2 or 3 tools you thought you'd need because you always needed more.  So if I need a screwdriver, the whole kit goes in.

You wouldn't believe the number of times I've taken a few hand tools to do a "simple fix", and wound up wishing I'd taken the TABLE SAW! :PullingHair:

my Dad's tool kit had a hammer, adjustable pliers, screw driver.

it made for some long projects growing up.

my tool kits are a little more extensive now.  yeah, kits...... garage has tools, house has tools, shop has TOOLS, even the car and truck have tools.

The story of my life "a couple tools will do the job" not working " ok so get a couple more" and so on . Then when done , if done, I have a crate of tools and nothing to put them in. So now I still may have to go back for more tools but will take a tote, bucket or tool bag along.

I don't see any duct (Duck) tape, baling wire/twine, 4d + 8d nails,  hog nose rings or WD40. Need to go back to the truck.:P

You would believe all the hardware I used to haul in the van.  I figured if I needed 1/4-20 2" long bolt to do a job, it would take me an hour to run out to the nearest hardware store and back.  Nuts, bolts, screws, threaded inserts, T-nuts, drawer and door hardware, recliner parts, pneumatic nailers and staplers. wood buttons, dowels, pieces of wood of various sizes, bed hardware, and nylon and felt foot pads, to name a few.  And that did not cover upholstery repair stuff like thread, needles, button reattachers, nailing strips, decorative nails, replacement cambric dust covers, etc., or the upholstery cleaning machine and two totes of different cleaners for general, urine, red food dye, other food dye, ink remover, rust remover, deodorizers, etc.

At least I didn't do the same thing all day long every day.
