January 14, 20224 yr Popular Post Decided to head south for a while...and see if anything was new.....first stop? Urbana, Ohio.....a place called the Boston...one of two antique stores sitting side by side...1/2 a block north of the Traffic Circle where Rt 68 meets rt 36.... Thought the usual dealer was still upstairs..trudged up, and looked around...no sign of his stuff....a sign down the hall said "Man Cave".....mostly filled with model cars and airplanes...table over in the corner had all the tools... Over priced, at that...went back downstairs, asked about the dealer that used to be upstairs..."Oh, he moved, all the way to the back of the store...so, off I went... Walked through a doorway to find..this....did a "Right Face!" and.. 2 hand planes up on that shelf...anyway kept looking around.. Then a left face... Turned around to walk around that table... Then looked at the back wall.. Walked back near the handplanes...picked the iron bodied one up..could not set it back down...barely was able to when I took it up front to pay the $65 +Sales Tax Stanley No. 8c, Type 19.....Takes up half the table top.... So..that was the first part of the trip..didn't go next door...not carrying a 10 pound handplane. So. I loaded things up, and headed south to Harmony, OH.. Their is a HUGE place in that town...called Heart of Ohio Antique Center....IF you happen to go there, plan on at least 3 hours of walking around....I was on a mission, so I was only there just over an hour...and spent $12 +tax.. On these three tools...one with the pencil is made of Brass. Maybe I should do a second post..about all the sights to see in that place....feet are sore... Stay tuned...BTW...somehow, on the trip back home...I had the "honor" of following a State Patrol SUV MOST of the way...grrr
January 14, 20224 yr Author Popular Post Ok...drool bib in place? I did find out where Granny Clampett keeps her shotguns at.. Cap & Ball shotguns, at that...Ok, next stop.. Table at the end of a booth...$45 saw.. Sitting to the right... And a second little saw... Back in the corner...$285 will buy you both of the stanley no. 7s.... Keep walking.. If it is in a glass case..don't ask...Like the Buck Rogers' pistol? A rack of chisels? Keep walking.. I didn't have the $75 to spare....For a complete Stanley No. 2358 Mitre Box & Saw...keep walking.. Sitting below this mess.. Looked good..but was missing a cutter..keep walking.. Very interesting... Wait until you see what is just the right of this.... Then, I found the spot I was looking for.. If you look down Aisle/Room 8...at the FAR end....walk down there and hang a right.. Where those Visegrips are hanging, is where the dividers came from.. Cost was $12 +tax....decided then was enough for today.... Be careful where you walk.... This was in a booth filled with Military clothing and other gear...watch out for them buckets... Was a busy day.. Each of these is either a hammer, or an axe..and this was the bottom half.. On the other side of this cabinet...is enough screwdrivers, ratchets, sockets, wrenches, pliers to make the Snap-on Driver jealous... I'm bushed...and to think...on the way back to Springfield on US 40....if you turn onto Titus Rd...there are 2 more large antique malls...maybe next time, eh?

January 15, 20224 yr Popular Post If I took that tour I would be in serious trouble. We would need a truck and trailer and both credit cards busted!
