I had just one Mexican board 3"x24" and to make it fit with the  3 inch board width without any waste I had to cut the pieces to the varying widths. You can see the gradual reduction in width.

Good looking cutting board, Ron. The Mexican wood looks like Ziricote. How did you obtain it?

Very nice, I like the bold grain patterns in the dark hardwood.

Pretty darned cool Ron.  How thick is it, and what did you use for a finish on it?

I found it at Rocklers. The Denver store just expanded with a very large  lumber area. This hardwood I used was in with many others, but his one stood out.

It is three quarters thick and I used Tight Bond III glue. The finish is Mineral oil that I applied twice after setting 24 hours. It is the only "safe" oil that I know to use.

Cal asked what kind of finish I used on this board and I forgot to mention a good find. I have purchased "cutting board oil" from Amazon and it was mineral oil........but much thinner than standard drug store mineral oil. When I stopped at the Dollar store, I saw "Baby oil" that the label identified as mineral oil, however it was MUCH thinner than drug store oil. The same consistency as the "cutting block oil" I bought on Amazon. If it is safe for babies, it is safe for cutting boards and only cost a buck.

Very cool Ron. I love the contrasting colors and grain. Your daughter is going to love it. Thanks for sharing.

Looks great Ron.Nice job.

That Mexican hardwood grain is great looking. Nice job on the board.

Baby oil is mineral oil just be careful some have additives to make it ‘pleasant’ smelling.
