October 29, 20214 yr Got several and was going to do one at a time spread out but I might forget so let’s post all today with one per post. Tip for this one “hand forged”.
October 30, 20214 yr This looks like a reshapened maddox head. Normally, they are rather squared where this one is rounded. The tool to the left with the yellow oak handles is post hole diggers. The can just below the post hole diggers is a fowl feeder. You pour the feed in to the top and as the chickens, duck and geese eat out the circular tray, the feed slides down so there is enough for all most of the day. BTDT with the scars to prove it. Looks like we have a winner. By the way this thing is out of proportion to what I have seen. Large shovel like end and small cutter( I would call a pick) Edited October 30, 20214 yr by Gerald
October 30, 20214 yr Shoot I did this earlier and didn't hit the submit button. Mattoock axe reshaped to use as a grub hoe.
October 30, 20214 yr Popular Post I have rather limited exposure to all those good old handtools, but all the mattocks that I have ever seen was like a clod buster on one side and single bladed axe on the other side. And, the only picks I have ever seen or used was pointed on both ends. In east Tennessee, sometimes, you need a pick to break up the clay that you are trying to dig out. Then use a mattock to dig out the clay so you can toss it out with a pointed shovel. Thank God, I will never do that again.
